<br />REGULAR M~ETING ~ffiY 2, 1956 <br /> <br />39 <br /> <br />I <br />On this, the 2nd day of May, 1956, the City Council of the City <br />of San Marcos met in a regular meeting at the city Hall in San ; <br />Marcos, Texas, with the following members present and participating: <br />I <br /> <br />Frank E. Dietterich, Mayor <br />S. R. Beecroft, hlderman <br />W. M. Davis, Alderman <br />Calvin M. Allen, Alderman <br />B. D. Hillburn, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, Alderman <br /> <br />others present were: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />W. G. Barbee Ann Ziemke Francis Mercer Darrell Montgomery <br />Richard pustejovsky C. L. Haynes J. Will campbell <br />Jim 'Nalls Bill Gulledge Rodgers Storey Charles Kaase <br />Charles Ziemke Ernest Morgan <br /> <br />There bein!'; a quorum present, Mayor Dietterich called the meeting <br />to order and the following trqnspired: <br /> <br />There was a discussion on the sale of the Highway Right-of-<;!ay <br />Bonds. The Council asreed that these bonds should be sold as <br />soon as possible. Mr. Bill Gulledge advised the Council that he <br />was of the opinion that san Marcos has followed very much the same <br />procedures that other cities in its position has. Alderman <br />Hillburn made a motion that the $350,000.00 Highway Right-of-"Tay <br />Bonds be placed for sale and that bids be accepted on May 23rd,1956. <br />Alderman Beecroft seconded the motion. A vote was taken which <br />resulted as follows: <br /> <br />Beecroft - Aye <br />Davis - No <br />Allen - Aye <br />Hil1burn - Aye <br />Korff - Aye <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A copy of the notice to bidders on the bonds follows these minutes: <br /> <br />A letter, which follows these minutes and is a part hereof, from <br />the San Mancos Fire Department making recommendation for the <br />'awarding of the bid on two fire trucks, was read by the Council. <br />Alderman Allen made a motion that the bid for two fire trucks be <br />awarded to the Simms Fire Equipment Co. as per the letter of <br />reco~~endation from the San Marcos Fire Department, and that said <br />bid include a Ford Chassis. Alderman Beecroft seconded the motion. <br />A vote was taken which resulted as follows: <br /> <br />Aldermen Allen, Beecroft, Hillburn, Korff - Aye <br />Alderman Davis - NO <br /> <br />Chief C. L. Haynes stated to the council that the Department now <br />has a truck ',mich is very dangerous, due t J the brakes. He <br />reported that it is almost always necesso.ry to take this truck to <br />all fires. due to the fact that it carries a ladder. Chief Haynes <br />reco~ended that this truck be rebuilt and placed on another <br />chassis is ~ossible. No action was taken. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Rodgers Storey met with the Council representing the Guadalupe <br />River '7atershed Association. He stated that many of the nearby <br />cities and counties have been donating approximately $l)O.OO each <br />to be used in gathering data for the above Association. He <br />requested that the City of San Marcos donate $l50.00 toward this <br />cause if at all possible. After a discussion, Alderman Allen <br />made a motion that the Council approve the issuance of a City <br />Check in the amount of $150.00 payable to the Guadalupe River <br />watershed Association. Alderman Korff seconded the motion. A <br />vote was taken whfuh resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />The Golf Association has requested that the City approve four <br />additional taps on the main water line running out the old Austin <br />H\~. It has been stated that these additional taps will not <br />necessarily cause more water to be used, however, it will make <br />it possible to water a larger area at the same time. They have <br />also inquired as to wnether or not they mi&~t use the City'S <br /><1i tching machine in laying some line, 1\ldernan Allen made a motion <br />that the four additional water taps be approved by the Council and <br />
