<br />~l <br />70 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING July 30, 1957 <br /> <br />On this, the 30th day of JUly, at 2,00 P. M. the:';ity Council of tl1e City <br />of San Marcos, Texas met in a regular meecing at the City Hall in San Marcos, <br />wi th the following members present and participating, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />v' M. Allen, Mayor <br />S. R. Beecroft, Alderman <br />B. D. Hillburn, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, AldeIman <br />~. M. Davis, Alderman <br />H. M. Steakley, Alderman <br /> <br />Others present were: <br /> <br />AUgustin Lucio, John Polanco, Paul Guerrero, Juan Hodriguez, Ponciano <br />Cortez, B. R. Fuller, and Fredericka Hopkins. <br /> <br />A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by Mayor C. M. Allen <br />and the following transpired, <br /> <br />Mr. S. H. Forbess came before the Council in regard to an automobile accident <br />he had with a City Police Car. It Was mutually agreed that the two insurance <br />comp~nies should settle tl1e matter. <br /> <br />ivir. '''[lOmaS ,'iilliamson came before the Council to se~ if the City would put <br />In a 611 water line to VJestovel'. It was mutually agreed that Mr. Fuller was to .,'wrk <br />up al1 estimate on the cost of a ~u water line to Westover. <br /> <br />Mrs. Dorothy Marburger requested that the City pay the hospital and doctor bi 11 <br />for the injuries her daughter received when she tell from the top of the bleachers <br />at the Little League Field # 1 on July G, 1957. The Council was of the opinion that <br />the City was not to blame for this accident. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Steakley made a motion that the bUdget be placed on first reading. Hr. <br />Beecroft seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor <br />of the motion. The puclic budget hearing was set for August 6, 1957. <br /> <br />A representative for residents of Rio Vista Addition requested some Lraffic <br />centrol in that area as the traffic volume has increase8 a great deal. Ihe Chief <br />of Police and Mr. Fuller made a survey of the area and recommended the following <br />traffic control signs= <br /> <br />STOP on Houston Road at Buggs Lane (I) <br />YIi:LD on ". A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in "avor 0 thG <br />motion.. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Hughson Meat Company wade a request to reduce the price of inspection of goats <br />ir'om 25~ per head to a lesser amount. It was mutually agreed that [,.tir. !3. R. Fuller, <br />City i'ilanager, make a study of what other cities of the approximate size as San <br />Marcos charge for inspecting their gqat& and report to the City Cound 1. <br /> <br />Five prJminent Latin American citizens came before the City Council in regard <br />cO the closing of parque Cuau.,temoc. After listening to chern and also Chief <br />Allbright, the Council were in agreement of the park remaining closed excepting for <br />two days, SeptembGr 15th and 16th. The City will furnish one policeman and the <br />Latin Americans as mamy other policemen as Chief Allbric)ht feels is necessary. <br />
