<br /> <br />REGULAR MEETIN3 OF JANlIARY 14. 1958 <br /> <br />On this, the 14th day of January, at 2:00 o'clock P. N., the <br />Governing Body of the City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a regular session <br />at the City Hall of San Marcos. Texas, with the following melllben present <br />and participating: <br /> <br />Absent wasl <br /> <br />Mayor ~o-Ternpore S. R. Beecroft <br />Alde~n W. M. Davis <br />Alderman B. D. Hillburn <br />Alderman Herman Korff <br />Alderman H. W. Steakley <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor C. AI. Allen <br /> <br />others present were: <br /> <br />B. R. Fuller, City Manager <br />earlyn Tatch, City Secretary <br />Mrs. Roland Manske <br />Mr. Caesar Damon <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A quorum being present the meeting was called to order by the <br />Mayor Pro-Tempore and the following transpired: <br /> <br />An item of infol1llation to the Council that Mr. W. G.Posey had, <br />on January 13th, submitted his resignation to enable him to accept private <br />employment. and since that time had requested that he be allowed to with- <br />draw his resignation. The City Manager informed the Council that Mr. Posey <br />had been re-instated as waterworks superintendent at the same salary he was <br />drawing prior to his resignation. <br /> <br />The City Manager at this time informed the Council that the lease <br />on the golf course property had expired and would have to be renewed and <br />that Mr. Rogers had submitted the lease at $1,200.00 per annum. Motion was <br />made by Alderman Hillburn and seconded by Aldel1llan Steakley to renew this <br />lease for the period January 1. 19!18 - December 31, 1960. at $1,200.00 per <br />annum and received a unanimous vote. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that Mr. Ruben Ruiz, re- <br />presenting the CUauhtemoc Park Clubs. had met with the Chief-of-Police. <br />Fire Marshall. Sanitarian and the City Manager and discussed the improve- <br />ments which arlt to be made prior to the Park opening time. The Council <br />was informed that Mr. Ruiz had been instructed to submit a letter to the <br />City setting forth the improveMents which they intend to make, so that they <br />may be approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro-Tempore at this time read a financial report sub- <br />mitted by the San Marcos Golf ASSOciation showing a bank balance, as of <br />December 31, 1957, in the amount of $492.41, with the outstanding bills in <br />the amount of $484.61 for a net balance of $7.80. It was stated that the <br />Golf Association h~s always had water contributed to the. by the City and <br />it was the decision of the Council to meter all water used by the Golf <br />Association, the meter to be installed as soon as practicable. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The minister of the Mexican Methodist Church has offered to sell <br />Lot 2, Block 16, original Townsite, to the City for $1,000.00. The City <br />Manager informed the Council that this lot is 83.33' x 158.23' and is direct- <br />ly across Fredricksburg Street from the present City Shed, and it could be <br />used as a waterworks storage shed. general shop, etc., and it would be ex- <br />tremely desirable to get as much of the equipment as possible in one place <br />so that a fence can be placed around it. Motion was made by Alderman <br />Hillburn and seconded by Alderman Steakley to offer the Mexican Church <br />$750.00 and authorize the City Manager to go as high as $900.00, rltceiving <br />the unanimous vote of the quorum present. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the COuncil at this time that Mr. John <br />Stokes requested some action betaken to his previous request regarding the <br />street through the edge of the Ce~tery property. Upon motion by Alderman <br />Hillburn and seconded by Alderman Steakley, unanimous approval was received <br />to ,let Mr. Stokes open a 50' street from the City Cemetery to the Oak Heights <br />sub-division. <br />
