<br />;i' <br /> <br />ADJOU.~NED i\1EETIl\13 OF JULY 22, 1958 <br /> <br />~ <br />101 <br /> <br />On the 22nd day of JUly, 1958, the Governing Body 'of the City of San <br />Marcos met in adjourned session at 3:30 olclock P. M., cst, at the City Hall. <br />In the absence of the Mayor, Mayor Pro-Tem Beecroft called tho meeting to <br />order and upon roll call, the following answered present: <br /> <br />Mayor Pro-Tem Beecroft <br />Alderman W. M. Davis <br />Alderman B. D. Hillburn <br />Aldelman Herman Korff <br />Alderman H. ~. Steakley <br /> <br />The following were also present: <br /> <br />B. R. Fuller, City Manager <br />Carlyn Tatch, City Secretary <br />Lee Harr, San Marcos Record <br />Hugh Dickson, Consulting Engineer, San Antonio <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />TI10 Mayor Pro-Tem stated that this Vias an adjoul'ned session of the <br />July 15th meeting and had been set to review the bids received on the pipe <br />and fittings a5 advertised and otlwr matters as might properly come before <br />the Council. if-I'. Dickson and the City Manager gave the Council a comprehensive <br />report on the bids which had been received (tabulation attached) and recorr,,,end- <br />ed that the Council accept the bid for ilConcrete Steel Cylindel~ Pipe'l. The <br />COUl1Cil carefully considered the bids receiv~d and questioned the Engineer and <br />the City Manager as to certain aspects of tile materials. <br /> <br />After due deliberation, Alderman Korff made a motion that the <br />Consul Hng Engineer be instructed to a,nend the Specification to permit award <br />on the Concrete steel cylinder pipe and that the following awards be recommend- <br />ed to the state Health Department and the Public Health Service; <br /> <br />Item 1 - <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Item 2 - <br />Item 3 - <br /> <br />Item 4 - <br />Item 5 - <br />Item 6 - <br />Item 7 - <br />Item c: - <br /> <br />Item 9 - <br /> <br />Item 9a - <br /> <br />u. S. Pipe & Foundry Co., Dallas for 360 <br />feet of 18" CI Pipe for $2,973.60 ($8.26 <br />per foot). <br />No Award <br />Gifford-HilI-American, Inc. of Dallas for <br />7,500 feet of 18" steel cylinder concrete <br />pipe for $38,925.00 - LESS ;;!b discount - <br />payment 10 days - for a NET award of <br />$33,146.50. <br />No Award <br />No Award <br />No Award - keadvertise <br />No Award <br />Armco Drainage & Metal Products Co. of <br />Austin for 30 feet of 24" Corrugated Iron <br />Pipe for $178.80 (less ~% - 10 days). <br />Gifford-Hill American, Inc. of Dallas for <br />fittings for steel pipe in the lump sum <br />amount of $445.00 - LESS ~ discount - <br />payment in 10 days - for a NeT award of <br />$436.10. <br />No Award <br /> <br />Alderman HUlburn seconded the above motion and upon roll call the <br />Ayes and Nayes were as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />Aldermen Davis <br />Hillburn <br />KOl' ff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />NAYES: None <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor Pro-Tem declared the motion passed and directed <br />the City Manager to notify the State Health Department and the Public Health <br />Service of the Councj,ls' action. <br /> <br />The Council received the Report on the 1958 Tax Equalization for <br />San rr.arcos from the Board of Equalization. After reviewing the Heport, <br />Alderman Hillburn made a motion, seconded by Alderman Steakley, that the <br />aeport be accepted as submitted and the members of the Boa::d of Equalization <br />be notified of the Council's appreciation for a very splendid re?ort. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />
