Fuller, City Manager
Carlyn Tatch, City Secretary
Mrs. Henderson, AAUW

The minutes of the meetings of July' 8th, July 15th, July 22nd and
August 7th were read and approved.

The first item of business was a report by the City Manager regarding a
request from property owners in the Conway-Greendale Additions for assistance
in preventing damage to their property as a result of flooding on the Blanco.
This matter had been referred to the City Manager at the July meeting for a re-
port. The City Manager informed the Council that a preliminary survey and study
of the entire area had been made. It was his opinion that there were two (2)
possible solutions; I, to construct a wide levy between the County Road and the
river, and, 2, to construct a drainage ditch from the end of Barbara Drive across
the Cape property to the San Marcos River. City Manager Fuller stated that
neither of the two suggestions provided a complete solution. It was the unani-
mous feeling of the Council that the City Manager proceed with a further study
of the situation and report to the Council at a later date.

I

At the adjourned meeting of the City Council of July 22, 1958, the
Council approved the renting of a Barber-Greene Finishing Machine for a period
of one month. The City Manager reported to the Council that the following
streets would be paved, during the rental period, .at an estimated cost of
$7,400.00:

~

I

Bishop
Johnson
Mi tchell
Dailey
Roosevelt
Mills
Buggs Lane
Edward Gary
Lindsey
Guadalupe
Alamo
Yale
Cornell
Orchard
Roanoke

f!.Q!!!

Hopkins
San Antonio
San Antonio
Mitchell
Guadalupe
Loop 82
Loop 82
R. Austin

It was the opinion of the Council that the finishing machine was doing a very
satisfactory paving job and that the City would profit by the purchase of this
machine. City Manager Fuller stated that the Council must realize that there
would be the possibility of future repairs on the machine and suggested that,
before final purchase of the machine, it would be wise to request the Barber-
Greene representative come to San Marcos and go over the machine giving an
estimated price of repair required. This suggestion met with the approval of
the Council and the Mayor authorized the City Manager to get in touch with
the representative and set a time and date for the inspection.
