Steakley <br /> <br />The meeting was called to. order by lUayor Allen. The minutes of the meetings <br />of December 20, and December 22 were approved as recorded. <br /> <br />City ~anager Fulller reported on the re~ent visit of the Army's site selec- <br />tion team designated to study the three sites offered by the CJty .of San Marcos <br />as a pO$sible location for the proposed Army [ieserve. Tra,ining Center, The site <br />solect,ion team showed a preference for site A, ,as indicated on pl,at attached, <br />if t)1ey could ,arrange for the installation of a. gas line to this si te at a <br />reasonable rate. Their second choice was site B, because of its position <br />nearer ~ gas supply. After some discussion the Council agreed that it migh~ <br />be more economical for the City if they could make an arrangement wi th tbe <br />Gas Company to provide gas to site A, since the use of site B wi 11 involve so.me <br />expense to the Ci ty for the purcJwse of a portion of the land composing tbis <br />si te, r.;ayor ,Allen suggested a conference wi th the head of the Gas Company to <br />make an arrangement acceptable to all parties concerned. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Hillburn ,asked that the Council consider writing our representa- <br />tive in tbe Senate, i\lax 3mi th, concerning !louse Bill ;+60, Alter some discussion <br />Alderman Hi llburn, made ,a motion, seconded by Aldern;an Beecroft, that the Ci ty <br />Council write Max Smith requesting that he support House Bill ;+173 and vote <br />agains t HousellBill 11=60. The motion was passe.d by a unanimous vote of the <br />Counc i 1. <br /> <br />The Counci 1 next considered a request that tbe San hlarcos ;lecord and tbat. <br />iladio, Station KCNY be given ,CO[Jr~TE.sY parking tickets. tdter SO[ie discussion.~ <br />;Uderman ;(orff made a motion, seconded by iHderman Davis, that both KCi',Y and <br />the San Larcos llecord each be allowed two parking permi ts at a monthly rate of <br />,a.50 each, which wou,ld permit them to .par.k in any meter, sgace. The motion <br />was passed by a unanimous vote of the Coun,cil. <br /> <br />The Council next considered a request from the Capitol Jlrea Council of the <br />DOY Scouts of Al;]erica. that February 7 - 13 be designated and proclaimed, as, <br />Boy Scout,'ieek in honor of the 49th anniversary of the organization, J'.!ayor <br />Allen suggested that the Council comply wi th this request, and, having the <br />common consent oJ the C,ouncil, the r\layor signed the proclamation prepared for <br />this purpose. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Texas iilunicipal League had requested tbat Senator Fly (Victoria) be <br />thanked for sponsoring Senate Si 11 ";30, After some discussion of ,the nature <br />of this bill, the decision of the Council was to write a letter to Senator Fly <br />as requested. <br /> <br />T1Hl City Attorney of B~ytmvn had requested that hmyor Allen read to the <br />Council a letter regardinG tl\e establis.hment of a state utility ltommission. After <br />some discussion tbe decision of the Council was to concur with the suggestion <br />of the letter and when such a bill is introduced to ask their Senator and <br />Representative to endorse and support the bill concerning the establishment of <br />a State Utility Commission. <br /> <br />The 'fexas Field .c.rchery Association has indiectcc! that they are interested <br />in putting up a State I\rchery i1ange in'lr near ~an Iii arc os .
