..
'265

REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MARCH 10. 1959

On the 10th day of March, 1959, at 2100 o'clock P.M., the Governing
Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session, Mayor C. Steakley

I

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen and the minutes of the
meetings of February 10 and February 17, 1959, were read and approved.

The regular order of business was dispensed with to hear the various
delegations requesting audience with the Council.

Mr. Tom Leffingwell appeared before the Council with reference to the
proposed improvements to Ranch Road 12. He requested that the City not take
any additional right-of-way from his mother's property on Moore Street since
it would lower the value of the property. City Manager Fuller noted that the
letter from Mr. Ed Bluestein, District Engineer of the Texas Highway Department,
outlining the proposed improvements to Ranch Road 12 had not mentioned the need
for any additional right-of-way. Mr. Leffingwell then withdrew his request
from the Council's consideration in view of the improbability that such right-
of-way would be needed.

I

Mr. Satterwhite, Mr. Steve Gregg, and several other interested parties
appeared before the Council with reference to the proposed extension of Pat
Garrison Street through Mr. Satterwhite's property to north Guadalupe Street.
Mr. Satterwhite stated that he was willing to give the City a 36 foot right-of
way across his property for the extension of the street, provided the street
lined up with the south edge of Pat Garrison, He felt that the 40 foot right-
of-way required by ordinance would take more of his property than he cared to
give. The Council noted that Pat Garrison Street is now 41.67 feet wide, and an
extension which was only 36 feet wide would necessitate a 5.67 foot offset in
the street, thus creating a traffic hazard. After some discussion, Alderman
Beecroft made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hil1burn, that the City would
accept a 40 foot right-of-way through Mr. Satterwhite's property for an extension
of Pat Garrison Street to north Guadalupe street. The ayes and nayes were as
follows:

Ayesl Beecroft
Hillburn
Korff

Nayesl Davis

Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the motion passed.
