Alfrs.d Crowell appear-eo before the CouDcil to dis,cuss possibilities <br />for moving the fireplug- from in front of his place of business to another <br />location. Be asked the Council if n1Gving the fireplug from its pl'esent loca- <br />tion 'I.ould affect tho fire insurance key rate in that area.. .Alderman Hillburn- <br />suggested that the City Manege!' write the State Insurance .Rating Bureau concern- <br />in9 the location of these fireplugs with respect to the City' s fire insurance <br />key rate. The Council egreed tl1at Mr. Cro\'lcll might remove the fireplug in <br />front of his place of ,cUSiness at his own expense if it is found that doing 50 <br />will not al-Le:r the Cityts key ::rate. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Several persons 'tIlilling to serve on the Board of Equalization fo;r the cori1ing <br />tax yeal' were suggested. by the ~effibers of the Council. Of this group tho follow- <br />ing 1i'Jere appointed by Mayor Allen, with the consent of the Council, to Serve as <br />-':.he rnembe:l's of the Board of Equalization for the year 1959: <br /> <br />Mr4 C. C. Wade, Chairman <br />Mr. Jeff Brassell, Uembers <br />Mr. Searcy Smith, Member <br /> <br />A suggested ordinance regulating the planting of shrubs, trees, and other <br />obstructions in corneT lots Was presented for the Councilts consideration. <br />After some discussion the following changes to the ordinance were proposed: <br /> <br />1. In Section 3(a), 50 feet be changed to 25 feet. <br /> <br />2. In Section 3(b), 5 feet be changed to 10 feet. <br /> <br />J. The ordinance would apply only to all are2S outside the first fire zone. <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hillburn that the suggested <br />ordinance be published with the ccrrections and again considered for passage <br />at the next regular meeting of the Council.. The motion was passed by a unanimous <br />vote of the Council. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The appointmen~ of a city planning agency was again consid.ered hy the Council. <br />After some discussion it was suggested that the City Manager prepare a preliminary <br />planning report to be submitted to the Council in December of "this year, and <br />that at a later date a citizen advisory commi tteG bc appointed to ~'Jork with the <br />City Manager in developing this report. Aldermen Tuttle made a motion, seconded <br />by Alderman Davis, thae City Manager Fuller he authorized to spend up to $2500 <br />to develop a preliminary planning report. The ayes and nayes were as follows, <br /> <br />Ayes: Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hi llhurn <br />Korff <br />Tuttle <br />Nayes, None <br />
