The minutes <br />of the meetings of June 9th, 16th, and 23rd were approved as read. <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd Martin of the United Gas Corporation appeared before the <br />Council to dete1llline if the Council was ready for final consideration of <br />an ordinance allowing a gas rate adjustment when the "gate charge" is <br />raised or lowered. City Io\anager Fuller reported that a copy of this suggested <br />ordinance had been sent to the City Attorney for his recommendations, ,but <br />as yet the City Attorney had not completed his study of the matter. The <br />Council informed Mr. Martin that action would be taken on his request as <br />soon as the recolllllenclations of the City' s legal counsel were received. <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon Baker of the Chamber of Commerce Trade Promotion Committee <br />appeared before the Council to request that "free parkingM be allowed on <br />all parking meters on Trade Pro...tion Day, July 23rd, as an added attraction <br />for shoppers. After some discussion Aldexman Korff made a motion, seconded <br />by Alderma~ Davis. that "free parking" be permitted on all parking meters <br />on July 23rd. The mo~ion was passed by a unanimous vote of the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob VanGundy appeared before the Council to discuss a ,City-COunty <br />agreement by which the City would fight fires o~tside the City limits. He , <br />reported on a recent meeting he had with the County Commissioners concern- <br />ing thi~ problem, and he said that the County officials would like.the City <br />officials to meet with them on July 15th at 9.00 A.M.
