Smith, NAACP <br />Rascoe Robson, Hays County CITIZEN <br /> <br />The minuLes of the previous meetings of June 14th and 21st <br />were approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Van Gundy came hefare the Council to discuss the <br />erection of 18 signs and to ask the City to assume the responsibility <br />of planting the posts for the signs. A group of the downtown merchants <br />who call themselves "Directional ~igns" have worked out a route to <br />direct tourists between Aquarena and Wonder Cave along a route through <br />the central business district. After some discussion, it was the <br />unanimous decision of the Council that the expense incur~ed must be <br />paid by the committee and that s"nce the signs will be placed on City <br />property the City will supervise the work. <br /> <br />Mr. Augustin Lucio, speaking for a co~mittee from the G. T. <br />Forum, read a petition which had been prepared by the group and on <br />which petitioners' signatures have not yet been obtained. The petition <br />asked that steps be taken by the City to change and better the "stagnant <br />water conditions" caused by flooding waters in Purgatory Creek. Mr. <br />Ruben Ruiz suggested that the creek bed and walls be concreted. Mr. <br />Fuller advised the creek is private property and proposed the petition- <br />ers assist in getting Right-of-~ay dedications. Mr. James E. ~mith <br />stated that water stands by his property on Mitchell ~treet. Alderman <br />Korff made the motion that City Manager Fuller and the City Attorney <br />proceed with the necessary work to enable the committee to the required <br />Hight-of-'Nay. Alderman Davis seconded, motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Hill has made a request that the Council approve a <br />parking permit for use on his vehicle. As Mr. Hill's vehicle is not <br />directly connected with his business, Aloerman Tuttle moved that the <br />permit not be 2pproved. Alderman Korff secondeo, motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Tuttle introduced an ordinance and moved its <br />adoption. The ordinance which is captiDned. <br />
