<br />REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 11. 1960 <br /> <br />On the 11th day of October, 1960, at 2100 o'clock P.M., the <br />Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session at the <br />City Hall, Mayor C. M. Allen presiding. <br /> <br /> Present 1 Mayor C. M. Allen <br />I Aldermen; ~. R. Beecroft <br />I" B. D. Hi11burn <br /> Herman Korff <br /> James Tuttle <br />I City Manager B. R. Fuller <br /> City ~ecretary Judy B. Brackett <br /> Absent, Alderman W. M. Davis <br /> <br />Also Present, <br /> <br />Mrs. Roland Manske, AAUW <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />The minutes of the meetings of ~eptember 13th, 21st, 28th, and <br />October 6th were approved. <br /> <br />The first item of discussion was parking in the cross alleys at <br />the rear and beside of the City Hall. The unanimous decision of the <br />Council was that parking be prohibited for all unattended cars, unloading <br />priviledges to be respected. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a tabulation of the bids received <br />and opened on October 10th for radio equipment for the new police car. <br />After a review of the bids and some discussion the Council approved the <br />purchase of the "Tube Type" Motorola from Motorola Communications & <br />Electronics Company at a purchase price of $364 net (tradein $7~ installation $35~ <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />The City Manager referred to the Council a request fro~ the <br />residents on Park Place Drive that street lights be installed. City <br />Manager Fuller recommended that the entire section of R M 12 from the <br />city limits to Moore ~treet be illuminated. The Council after a short <br />discussion authorized the City Manager to proceed with arrangements for <br />the installation as recommended. <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />In order to assure the availability of an adequate area at the <br />end of Hopkins Street for the new bridge, the City Manager recommended <br />that the City begin acquisition of all property in Block 29. The <br />remainder of the property to be used for park improvements and recreational <br />development. Alderman Tuttle moved that all residents and property. owners <br />be notified their property will be needed for development by the City <br />toward public use and benefit. Alderman Hillburn seconded, motion carried. <br /> <br />II <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager presented statistics on municipal ownership of <br />the electrical distribution system by Texas cities. I~,was noted that <br />there were 48 cities who owned their distribution system and that 45 were <br />50,000 population or under. After a lengthy discussion, it was the <br />unanimous decision of the Council that a citizen's committee should be <br />appointed to study the success these other cities had in municipal owner- <br />ship and operation. The City Manager was requested to prepare and <br />distribute to the cities a questionaire so that the committee would have <br />the proper information for their evaluation.
