Mr. Henry Kyle, spokesman for the group, reported that
the Cemetery Association had ohtained approximately $39,000.00 in
signed pledges and had $6,000 ,cash in the hank, making a total of
pledges and cash of $45,000.00 (approximately). Mr. Kyle reminded
the Council that it had been agreed that the City would assume
maintenance of the cemetery and establish perpetual care when the
Association turned over $50,000.00 to the City. Mr. Kyle reported
that it appeared the Association had exhausted the possibility of
pledges until the City actually took over perpetual care at which
time sufficient other people had indicated they would be willing to
pledge and this would hring the total to over the sum required hy
the Council.

The members of the Council entered into a lengthy discussion
as to the merits of the system, the amount of revenue which might be
expected, the price of grave spaces sold under perpetual care, and
other matters effectirig the program. This motion was
seconded by Alderman Beecroft and upon roll call passed without a
dissending vote.

I

The Cemetery Committee thanked the Council for their con-
sideration and the Mayor expressed to the Committee the City Council's
deep appreciation for the fine work which they had done and reminded
them that they would be called on to assist the City in maintenance
of the Cemetery.

Mr. Paul Rogers requested the Council to expedite placing
a 6" water line and fire protection near the Spring Lakes Hotel which
is presently under construction.
