ADJOURNED REGULAR SESSION HELD ON APRIL 25, 1961 On the 25th day of April 1961 at 2:00 o'clock P.M. the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall, Mayor C. M. Allen presiding. I Present: Mayor C. M. Allen Aldermen: B. D. Hil1burn Herman Korff Ruben Ruiz Kenneth Sutton J. E. Younger, Jr. city Manager B. R. Fuller city Secretary Judy B. Brackett Guests. Bill Veidt of KCNY, Tom Buckner of San Marcos Record, Frank Brown, 'Chamber Manager, Jim Banister, W. R. Boucher, R. B. Norman, Jose Rodriguez, Dick Henderson, Houston Marney. First item on the agenda was a discussion on the 1961-62 Budget. After a lengthy discussion the matter was tabled until an executive meeting could be called. I The Council received a recommendation from the Hays County Bar Association, which had been requested to investigate and recommend a corporation court recorder. The Bar Association recommended that the Mr. E. O. Wiley, Jr. be contacted as recorder, and reported they had contacted the County Authorities who had given permission for the use of the large district Court room on Saturday morning to hold Corporation Court. Alderman Hillburn introduced an ordinance and moved its adoption. The Ordinance is captioned: AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE RECORDER OF THE CORPORATION COURT; SETTING THE TERM OF OFFICE; AND, FIXING THE COMPENSATION The ordinance was read in full and the motion of adoption was seconded by Alderman Korff. Upon roll call the ayes and nayes were: AYES: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton and Younger NAYES: None Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the ordinance passed, approved and adopted. The unanimous decision of the Council was to pay the Election Officials with the county bearing one-half of the expense for the April 5th dual election. I The Airport Committee has requested that some paving be done at the airport. After some discussion 6f the advantages to San Marcos by having better landing facilities, Alderman Korff made the motion that if the airport will furnish the materials the City will furnish labor and machinery to complete the necessary work. Alderman Hillburn seconded, and the vote was as follows. AYES: Hillburn, Korff, Sutton NAYES: Ruiz, Younger Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the motion carried.
