<br />//'0- <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MAY 9. 1961 <br /> <br />On the 9th day of May 1961, at 2:00 o.clock in the after- <br />noon, the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular <br />session, Mayor C. Bowden, <br />Ross Arnold, Walter Buckner of <br />the San Marcos Record. <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meetings on April 11th and April <br />25th were approved with corrections. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Noble Field read a resolution adopted by the Board of <br />Directors of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, and recorded in Chamber <br />minutes on Thursday, April '27, 1961. The resolution, which expresses <br />the Director's desire that the current city council 'not undertake to <br />destroy that which has been gained through the efforts of Mayor Allen <br />and his previous city council but, that they uphold the policies <br />established under Mayor C. M. Allen and the previous City Council, <br />follows and is made a part of these minutes. Mayor Allen thanked <br />Mr. Field and the Chamber for their interest. <br /> <br />Mr. Kenneth Weatherford appeared before the council re- <br />garding the distribution of ambulance calls to funeral homes. Mr. <br />Weatherford stated that the Los Angeles Chapel is not an independent <br />business and operates only as a branch of the Pennington Funeral <br />Home; thus, they are not entitled to receive ambulance calls on an <br />independent basis. The council had previously voted to issue month- <br />ly turns on the calls to each of the locations, Pennington's, Los <br />Angeles, and Weatherford. Alderman Sutton made the motion that the <br />decision of the last meeting be upheld by the council. The motion <br />died for the want of a second. Aldennan Ruiz moved that the council <br />rescind the decision of the last meeting and that only Pennington <br />and Weatherford Funeral Homes be considered for calls. The motion <br />died for want of a second. Mr. Weatherford requested that the Los <br />Angles Chapel ceased to be called by the police department as soon <br />as the chapel could be notified. Alderman Younger moved that a <br />decision be postponed by the council until further investigation <br />by the City Attorney and City Manager as to ownership and opera- <br />tional title. Alderman Korff seconded, whereupon the Mayor asked <br />for a roll call vote. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor C. M.
