REGULAR MEETING HEll ON AUGUST 8, 1961 I On the 8th day of August, 1961, at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon, the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session in the City Hall. Present: Alderman Herman Korff Ruben Ruiz Kenre:h Sutton J. E. Younger, Jr. city Manager B. R. Fuller City Seoretary Judy B. Tomlinson Guests: Jose G. Rodriguez Kenneth Weatherford Lee Swift Mrs. Roland Manske, AAUW Jerry Viedt, KCNY R. 1. Bunting Col. James W. Hill Tom Buckner, RECORD Absent: Mayor C. M. Allen Alderman B. D. Hillburn I The meeting was oalled to order and in the absenoe of the Mayor and Mayor Pro-tern, the attending councilmen appointed J. E. Younger, Jr. presiding officer. The minutes of the meeting of July 11th and July 26th were approved. Mr. Jose Rodriguez oame before the council to request that signs be erected to slow speed on Cheatham Street to "30 miles per hour". Alderman Ruiz moved that the City Manager be authorized to have the signs plaoed where neoessary. Alderman Sutton seoonded, motion carried. I R. L. Bunting met with the Counoil with regards to the water lines serving the Fairlawn Addition, a subdivision without the city limits. Mr. Bunting complained that the City had tapped the line going to the addition and that this line was, in his opinion, a private line and that he had been getting $100 per connection whenever the line was tapped. The Counoil asked for an explanation from the City Manager as to the status of the line. The City Manager explained that the line was being maintained by the City and would have to be moved by the City insofar as it conflicted with the new expressway. If it was, as continded by Mr. Bunting, a private line then the owner, Mr. Bunting, would have to bear all the expense of the conduit and relocation expense. After some discussion Mr. Bunting re- quested the Counoil to accept whatever right, title or interest he might have in the lines and that they be considered the property of the City. Mr. Bunting further agreed that he would not make any further charges for connections to the line and the City agreed that the City would continue to provide adequate service to the customers presently connected to the line. Any future connections would be in accordanoe with Council policy regarding outside connections in effect at the time the request was made. The Council was informed of the reappointment by Mayor Allen of Mr. L. F. Martin and Mr. Joe Rodriguez as Commissioners of the City of San Marcos Housing Authority.
