Jerri Veidt, Wtay Weddell, <br />Jack Majo'r, James Burwell' and <br />Dr. Ben primer. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayot Allen. <br />The Reverend Mr. Wilson gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~ trhe minute~ of the previous meeting w&re read and approved. <br />t <br />tAn 01dinance regulating dogs was ,discussed at great length <br />by thecCouncil and Dr. Primer was ,called ontto give information on <br />the Ordinance in foice in Austin: Alderman Stokes moved that the <br />matter be tabled until the next meeting, and: that each Alderman <br />be prepared to present his ideas at that time. The motion, seconded <br />by Alderman Ypunger, passed ur:lanimously. The City Manager was asked <br />to prepare cost estimates on equipment necessary to enforce an <br />Animal Ordinance. <br />J- <br />At tne requestcor Alderman Stokes, 'the City 'Manager 'gave a <br />status repert on some items discussed at previous meetings. These <br />concerned the request of E.Bel1, the Thunderbird Addition, the new <br />Lift Station, the relocation of utility lines, Courtesy Parking Tickets, <br />possible purchase of traffic lights from another city, and the City <br />Pla~nin9 Commission. . <br /> <br />'Alderman'Swift asked the tity Manager to get an opinion <br />from the City Attorney on purchase of the Coy Deviney property <br />without restrictions. <br /> <br />'A request from-the Sociedad Cuauhtemoc for permiSSion to hold <br />Sunday dances waS brought before the Council for discussion. The <br />Chief of Police was not, present to discuss tAe matter asJhad been <br />planned. ,Alderman Stokes ' reported he had been',contacted by'some <br />People who voiced disapproval of Sunday dances. Alderman Rulz said <br />he felt that any criticism about the request should be presented to <br />the Council in a formal manner. No action waS taken. <br /> <br />Alderman ~ift asked for a report on the Police School at <br />College Station, with referellce to Patrolman Brooks' grades. The <br />City Manager said the grades had not been received, but he understood <br />Patrolman Brooks had made a very high grade and gained valuable <br />kmowledge that would be passed,on to the other patrolmen. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Swift suggested that all City Patrolmenb\'l trained <br />in the use of firearms and have a minimum rating in their use in <br />target firing before being permitted to carry side a1'1ll". Mayor All!>n <br />,,'J1gested that the Sportsmen's Club be. contacted and arrangements <br />made to use its Pistol Range to qualify City Patrolmen. <br /> <br />Alderman Moore called the attention of the Council to the <br />condition of the lounge in the Fire Station and requested that <br />the City Manager have it painted. <br /> <br />( 60 <br />
