Moore <br />Ruben Ruiz <br />H. Garland Stokes <br />Lee Swift <br />J.E. Younger <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager <br /> <br />B.R. Fuller <br />Dorothy O. Worrell <br /> <br />Guests: <br /> <br />The Rev. Hugh Busby, Mrs. Jerri Veidt and Tom Buckner; <br />delegation from Austin; citizen group, San Marcos. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen. The Reverend Mr. <br />Busby gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were read and .approvem. <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz introduced an Ordinance and moved its adoption.. <br />The Ordinance was read in full. The motion for adoption was <br />Seconded by Alderman Stokes. Caption of the Ordinance, a copy of <br />which is attached to these minutes, is as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS; <br />FIXING THEIR DurIES, COMPENSATION AND TERM OF OFFICE", <br />ADOPTED ON THE 4THfDAY OF APRIL, A.D., 1962. <br /> <br />Upon roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NAYS: <br /> <br />MOORE, RUIZ, STOKES, SWIFT AND YOUNGER <br />NONE <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Amendment duly adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor then asked Dorothy O. Worrell to assume her duties as <br />City Secretary. <br /> <br />A delegation representing the American Automobile Association <br />appeared before the Council to award the City of San Marcos the <br />1961 Pedestrian Safety Citation. Mr. I.W. Davis of Southwestern <br />Bell Telephone Company introduced Mr. Allen Sears, AAA Regional <br />Director General of the Texas Association of Traffic Safety, who <br />presented the award as a four-year achievement on the basis of no <br />pedestrian deaths during that period. <br /> <br />The Mayor accepted the plaque with an expression of appreciation <br />for the honor bestowed upon the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />August 14th having been set by the Council for an Open Hearing on <br />the proposed General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, Mayor Allen welcomed <br />those who were present and asked the City Manager to outline the <br />program. At the conclusion of the presentation, there were questions <br />and answers and a general discussion between Councilmen and the 29 <br />visitors. All expressed enthusi~Jrt for the General Neighborhood <br />Renewal Plan and upon motion of a.R. Gulledge, it was unanimously <br />endorsed by the group present. <br /> <br />Alderman Stokes introduced an Ordinance calling for a Special Urban <br />Renewal Election on September 18, 1962 and moved its adoption. The <br />Ordinance was read in full. The motion for adoption was seconded by <br />Alderman Younger.
