<br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 ~,m. The Rev.
<br />Pau I Ge i gel', pastor of Grace Lu,theran Church, gave the I nvocat ion.

<br />had come to request po lice patrol i ntre i I' ne i ghborhood, to curb
<br />drag racing and general speeding. Ic\e said Mimosa Circle had
<br />become a race track; that during daylight hours, it was a menace
<br />to small chi Idren on tricycles, and, at night, disturbing to people
<br />trying to sleep. He cited twoi nstanceswherp dr iyers had run their
<br />cars through the Marsha II Hughes and J.M. Sims yards, wi th cons i der-
<br />ab I e damage to the 1 awns. Mr. Dannell ey sa i d that street lights
<br />and traffi,c signs stating speed. limits, should help to deter speeders.
<br />Street name signs were also requested. Marshal I Hughes corrorbor-
<br />ated Mr. Dannelley's statements, and asked for pol ice patrol in
<br />Spr ing Lake Hill s. A I derman Pool suggested that a patI'o I man be
<br />stationed on Mimosa Circle after 12: 00 atn ight. Alderman Ru i z
<br />stated that there was only one patrolman on duty in San Marcos
<br />after 12 midniBht, and that he could not be safely assigned to one
<br />neighborhood exclusively, Leaving other areas unpatrol led.
<br />The Mayor assured the citizen delegation that an attempt would be
<br />made to deal with the situation. He reminded visitors to the
<br />meet i ng that. I ack of funds m~de it i mposs i hi e t.o furn ish a II the
<br />servi,ces requested by citizens: "Noone is any more anxious than
<br />this, Counci I to give every cit,izen the servi,ces he is ent,itled to.
<br />We have' proposed a ,f i ve -year' p I an to prov i de these serv ices through
<br />regular budgeted channels. If you want the program a'ccelerated,
<br />you people can furnish it the other way," Mr. Taylor said.
