Luddington, Pastor of Greater Bethel Baptist <br />Church, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Minutes of the meetings held on June 14,15,24,29, 1965 <br />we~e unanimously approved as presented, on motion of <br />Alderman Tuttle and second of Alderman Froh. <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that the proposed 1965-1966 Budget for <br />the City of San Marcos was in the hands of the Counci I. He <br />set Monday, July 26, 1965 for the Public Hearing on the Budget. <br />The meeting will be held in the Counci I Room at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mr. Serur stated that the Ordinance setting the tax rate for <br />the com i ng year was a part of the Budget, and wou I d be passed <br />after the Public Hearing. He said that the proposed rate is <br />the same as I~st year. <br /> <br />The Mayor mentioned two letters received by the Counci I from <br />Father Marin of St. John's Church. Assistance with extermination <br />of the beetles during the infestation was requested in the first <br />letter; the second was a letter of appreciation for the efficient <br />help given. <br /> <br />A report on the activities of the Summer Recreation Program <br />was furnished Counci Imen by the City Manager. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the City had acquired two pieces <br />of property in a sale to satisfy a tax judgement. By common <br />consent, the Counci I agreed to authorize the City Manager to <br />have the houses demolished; or sold, with agreement by the <br />purchaser that the houses would be moved five mi les beyond the <br />City Limits. <br /> <br />= <br />y <br />.~ <br />cc:: <br />~ <br /> <br />Action on a petition received from San Marcos Independent <br />School District and John J. Stokes requesting the closing and <br />abandoning of certain streets in the F.P. Dannel ley Addition <br />was deferred for further study by the Counci I. <br />
