He said the matter had <br />been under consideration for many months: he had been request- <br />ed to wait 90 days for a decision; he had waited 90 days, and <br />30 more. The Mayor said he and the City Mari~ger had spent three <br />hours that afternoon with Planner Robert Green, trying to work <br />out a solution. He stated it was not just a problem of the <br />Urban Renewal P lan, but of the constant I y i ncreas i ng traff i c <br />problem created by the rapid expansion of Southwest Texas <br />State Col lege. The acquisition of the Federal Fish Hatchery <br />property by.the Col lege had shifted the central entrance to <br />the corner of Water (Jeff Davis) and Colorado. This demanded <br />a re-~outingof the p~oposedn.M. Allen Blvd. through the Park, <br />to provide circulation of traffic. The Mayor called on Mr. <br />Green, who exp I a i ned why the first proposed p I an had to be <br />changed, illustrating his remarks with maps showing traffic <br />patterns. Mr-. Storey said he had asked twice to be notified <br />when' Mr. Green was in town, in order to discuss the prob I em <br />with him, but had not been given that opportunity. He then <br />excused "himself from +hemeeting. The discussi6n continued. <br />The Mayor asked Mr. Green if his recommended route of the <br />C.M. Allen Blvd. meant that both the Storey property and the <br />Wal I ing property would have to be taken. Mr. Green replied: <br />"Yes. There i~ no other way". After further discussion, the <br />Mayor asked the City Manager to arrange for Mr~ Green and <br />Mr; Storey to meet the following day. <br /> <br />Mr. Wolff brought before the Counci I a proposal made by the <br />Board of Directors of the San Marcos Lions Club. The Club <br />offered to air-condition the Recreation Hall in City Park <br />in return for free use of the faci lities for one luncheon <br /> <br />meeting a week, and a quarterly meeting one night. <br />
