REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, JULY 10, 1967 Present: Mayor Ellis Serur Counci Imen: Emmie Craddock, Ph.D. Caesar A. Damon Luciano H. Flores Herman Korff Wi II iam C. Pool, Ph.D. Mark H. Whittenberg I Acting City Manager & City Secretary Dorothy O. Worrel I Visitors: Douglas Byrne, Dr. Ben Copass, George Reed, J.E. Younger, jr. , Fr. Richard Trevino The Mayor cal led the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Richard Trevino, Pastor of St. John's Church, gave the Invocation. I Bids on a traffic light system were received and opened. Econolite entered a bid of $19,601. Signal Engineering entered a bid of $20,450., with a 4% discount, and alternate features which proved to be more advantageous. Douglas B. Byrne, engineer for Signal Engineering Co., was present to explain his bid, and to answer questions. Dr. Pool moved acceptance of the Signal Engineering Co. bid. Mr. Korff seconded the motion and on rol I call, the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. Dr. Ben Copass, Corporation Judge, came before the Counci I to report the need for an ordinance officially designating the location of existing traffic lights. Counci Imen had received copies of a letter from the City Attorney verifying the need for such an ordinance. Mr. Damon moved that the City Attorney be requested to draw up an ordinance covering the installation of traffic I ights and stop signs. Mr. Whittenberg seconded the motion and on rol I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Craddock, Oamon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. I Dr. Poo I introduced an ord i nance author i zing the issuance of General Purpose Warrants in the amount of $47,000. The ordinance ~as read in ful I. Dr. Pool moved its adoption as an emergency. Mr. Korff seconded the motion and on rol I cal I the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Craddock, Damon.
