<br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The
<br />Rev. C. Eugene Jennings, Rector of St. Mark's Church, gave the
<br />Invocation.

<br />The Minutes 9f the April 22, 1968 meeting were approved as
<br />presented, o~ motion o~ Councilman Zavesky, and second of
<br />Coun~ilman Pool.
<br />
<br />The City Manager presented a tabulation of eight bids submitted
<br />for a new fire truck and pump authorized for purchase by the City.
<br />Mr, Bean- recommended purchase of an American LaFrance complete
<br />unit with cab and chaSsis, on a bid of $26,236.00. He explained
<br />that his bid was based on the quality and superiority of performance
<br />of the American LaFrance. Or. Craddock moved th9t the City
<br />purchase the American LaFrance at ~ cost of $~6,236.00. Mr. Flores
<br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

<br />Mr. Bean stated that only one bid had been received on the tractor
<br />to be purchased for parks and grounds maintenance. Dr. Craddock
<br />moved that the City purchase an International tractor with diesel,
<br />on the $2838.70 bid submi,tted by San Marcos Equipment Co. Councilman
<br />Oannelley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

<br />Dr. Martin Juel came b~fore the Council as a representati~e of
<br />the Rotary Club to ask that the City approve Rotary's sponsorship
<br />of a Teen Jury Program. It would be administered through Corpor-
<br />ation Court; Judge Ben Copass' support had already been pledged.
<br />Dr. Juel explained how the p~ogram works, and the benefits expected.
<br />He stated that, if the City approved t he plan, 'the Rotary Club would
<br />seek the cooperation of the High School. Dr. Pool enquired whether
<br />the SahMarcos Baptist Academy might not be asked t6 pa~ticipate.
<br />Judge Copass said the plan was under consideration. Rotarian Jim
<br />Brown said if the Council approved the plan, it would be necessary
<br />for the Council to pass an ordinance implementingth~ Teen Jury
<br />Program. Dr. Craddock moved that the City Manager be authorized to
<br />draw up an ordinance setting up a Teen Jury Program. Dr. Pool
<br />seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded:
