Blodgett, Kenneth Compton, Biff Pennypacker The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The'Rev. Leon Peacock, Chaplain at Gary Job Corps Training Center, gave the Invocation. The Minutes of the May 27, 1968 meeting were approved as presented, on motion of Mr. Zavesky and. second of Dr. Craddock. Mrs. MargaretM. Kerrera, Director oECommunity Action, Inc. of Hays County, came .before the Council to discuss the City's contri- bution to the Surplus Commodities Program. She stated there are a~additional 662 persons, represented in 135 family units that are eligible for Surplus Commodities that cannot. be served for lack of funds. She asked that the City contribute an additional $400 for the 1968-1969 budget year, or a total of $1200. The City had pledged $800 for the current budget .year. In answer to a question, Mrs. Herrera said that it would cost $20Qto put the 135 families on the program for the period between now and September. After discussion, Dr. Craddock moved that the Council supplement the Surplus Commodities Fund by $200 at once, and to appropriate $1200 in the 1968-1969 budget. Dr. Pool seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Ronald Wilson appeared before the Council to ask that members reconsider action taken at a previous meeting regarding trailer facilities at City Park. Mr. Wilson said five persons have made an investment of $100,000 in trailer parks, ~nd they .feel the City is in competition with private enterprise by allowing overnight parking of trailers in the Park. He made it clear they do not want the trailer club. rallies, only the overnight business. Councilman Smith said he did not feel the Park should be restricted to anyone. Dr. Craddock explained .her position as being opposed to the use o~ the park by trailers if their presence was a detriment to the use of the Park by local citi,ens. Mr. Flores said the City would be losing money if they let individual trailers stay overnight. since someone would have to be on duty to collect the fee, and there would not be enough trailers using the park to justify an employee. The Mayor said the facilities were not installed as a money-making proposition, but as a service to "caravanners" and rallies, but that trailer club members had spent a great deal of money in
