Saunders, Mr. and Mrs, Seferino Garcia, Clarence Harborth, Charlotte Crisp, Bill Veidt, Nancy Kreczmer, Kenneth Finch The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. I MinUtes of the January 13. 1969 meeting were approved as presented, on motion of Mr. Zavesky and second of Mr. Smith. Kenneth Finch, of Ernst & Ernst, presented the City's Audit for Fiscal Year October 1, 1967 to Sept. 30, 1968. In introductory remarks, Mr. Finch reported the City of San Marcos to be in better financial condition than at any time in recent years. A copy of the Audit Report is on file in the City Secretary's office. Mr. Robe~t J. Uhr, Di~trict Manager, United Gas Corporation. appeared before the Council to discuss the company's proposed 16% rate increase. After Mr. Uhr's presentation, Dr. Craddock moved. that the Mayor a,ppoint a committee to study the proposed rate inc;rease and present a report and recommendation to the Council. Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor appointed Dr. Craddock, Mr. Zavesky and Mr. Dannelley to a committee to make a study of the proposed, gas rate increase. Dr.Pool questioned whether the committee might not need profession- al advice, and suggested Dr. Robert Montgomery be contacted as a consultant. Mr. Uhr said personnel of United Gas would assist the com~itte~ in any way possible. I Dan 'Farlow appeared before .the Council as spokesman for "Bridgebuilders", a cross-section ci~ic organization interested in developing mo~e";ecreation areas in San Marcos. A report on the Dunbar Area Recreation proposal had previously been distrib- uted to Councilmen. A plat of the proposed d~velopment on the former Dunbar School grounds, prepared by Harvey Miller, was exhibited with the report. Mr. Zavesky comment~d that one problem would be the cost of installing and maintaining proper lighting for the playground. He suggested that an attempt be made to interest LCRA in providing lighting.
