<br />114 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1974 - 18 <br /> <br />ORDER FOR SPECIAL CITY ELECTION <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS I <br />THE COUNTY OF HAYS I <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS I <br /> <br />On this, the 8th day of April, 1974, the City Council of the <br />City of San Marcas, Hays County, Texas, canvened in Regular Session <br />at the regular meeting place at City Hall in said City, with the <br />following members present: <br /> <br />Ross King, Mayor Pro-Tem <br />William L. Cunningham, Caunci1man <br />Guillerma DeLa Rosa, Caunci1man <br />Bill Dibrell, Caunci1man <br />Emmie Craddock, Councilwoman <br />Luciano H. Flores, Cauncilman <br />David R. Tauch, Councilman <br /> <br />and nane absent. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, no candidate for Places 1, 2 and 3 in the Regular City <br />Election held April 2, 1974, received a majority of the total vote, <br />as required by Sec. 5.05 of the Charter of th, City of San Marcos; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />and WHEREAS, the tWa candidates receiving the largest number of <br />votes in Place 1 were Ted Breihan and Alphonso Washington; the two <br />candidates receiving the largest number of votes in Place 2 were <br />John Hansen and Rosalinda Ma1ano; and the two candidates receiving <br />the largest number of votes in Place 3 were Kenneth Suttan and <br />Ira Kennedy; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article VI af the Charter af the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, reserves to the people the right to "Initiative, Referendum <br />and Recall"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Secretary has determined that the signatures of <br />317 qualified vaters would be required on any such petition <br />presented between April 4, 1973 and April 2, 1974; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Secretary has certified ta the Cauncil that there <br />are sufficient signatures attached to a petition calling for an <br />election to consider the adoptian of the Firemen's and Policemen's <br />Civil Service Act, Article 1269 (m), Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, <br />Pursuant to the terms and conditians of the act: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />That a special election be held in said City on the 30th day af <br />April, 1974, to determine the winning candidates far Places 1, 2 <br />and 3 and to submit the following praposition: <br /> <br />FOR <br /> <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS ADOPTING THE FIREMEN'S AND <br />POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE ACT, ARTICLE 1269 (m), <br />REVISED CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS, PURSUANT TO THE <br />TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE ACT. <br /> <br />AGAINST <br /> <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS ADOPTING THE FIREMEN'S AND <br />POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE ACT, ARTICLE 1269 (m) <br />REVISED CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS, PURSUANT TO THE <br />TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE ACT. <br />
