1973 - 2 ., E1 1 I AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO GARBAGE CAN SPECIFICATIONS, CHARGES FOR GARBAGE COLLECTION FROM RESIDENCES, DISPOSAL OF SMALL DEAD ANIMALS, PRIVATE COLLECTION OF GARBAGE, UNLAWFUL COLLECTION AND REMOVAL OF GARBAGE, CHARGES FOR DISPOSING OF ~EFUSE AT CITY'S LANDF I LL, AND CHARGES FO,~ SPEC I AL REFUSE CONTA I NER SERVICE; AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ENTITLED "GARBAGE AND HASH" BY AMENDING SECTIONS 12-3, 12-7, AND 12-10 THEREOF; BY DELETING SECTION 12-12 AND 12-16 THEREOF AND SUBSTITUTING NEW SECTIONS UNDER THE SAME NUMBERS; CREATING AN ENTIRELY NEW SECTION 12-17 "DISPOSAL CHARGES- SANITARY LANDFILL"; CREATING AN ENTIRELY NEW SECTION 12-18 "REFUSE COLLECTION BY CITY-FROM SPECIAL CONTAINERS". BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: I. That the present Section 12-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be amended so that said section shall henceforth read as fol lows: SECTION 12-3. Garbage cans generally--Required; specifications. I It shall be the duty of every person owning, managing, operating, leasing, occupying or renting any premises within the corporate I imits of the city to provide a portable garbage can, constructed of some substantial metal I ic material, having a watertight and insectproof cover or I id. Such can shal I be free of holes permitting leakage of its contents and have a capacity not to exceed thirty (30) gal Ions or a maximum loaded weight of seventy-five (75) pounds. II. That the present Section 12-7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of 3an Marcos, Texas, be amended so that said section shall henceforth read as fol lows: SECTION 12~7. Garbage collection charges by city--From residences. (a) The charges for the pickup of garbage within the limits of the city shall be upon the following basis: (1) For the pickup of garbage at a single-family residence, $2.00. (2) For the pickup of garbage at a duplex, triplex or garage apartment (for each unit thereof), $2.00. I (3) For the pickup of garbage at an apartment house con- taining .four (4) or more fami Iy units where such units are jointly metered, $2.00 for the first unit and $1.25 for each additional unit.
