RESOLUTION 2011 -17R <br />• <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A FEDERAL POLICY <br />PROGRAM FOR COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE TEXAS <br />CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION ON ISSUES OF <br />IMPORTANCE TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />NECESSARY DOCUMENTS AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, finds that it is in <br />the City's best interest to express to the Texas Congressional Delegation matters <br />of importance to the people of San Marcos in the development of infrastructure, <br />transportation, public safety and protection of environmental resources in the <br />community. <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos, Texas, finds that the following programs <br />and projects should be brought to the attention of the Texas Congressional <br />Delegation as they consider federal funding opportunities and as they <br />communicate with federal agencies on programs of importance to the people of <br />• San Marcos and the State of Texas, to include the City Council's continuing <br />support for: <br />1. The construction of an elevated roadway across Union Pacific Railroad <br />crossings on Loop 82 (Aquarena Springs Drive) <br />2. The Federal Aviation Administration's funding of staff for the Air Traffic <br />Control Tower at San Marcos Municipal Airport constructed in 2010 by the <br />City of San Marcos. <br />3. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' continued advancement of the "Section <br />206 Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project, San Marcos, Texas," which <br />currently has the San Marcos River Feasibility Study underway in cooperation <br />with the City of San Marcos. <br />4. Important infrastructure, environmental, transportation and public safety <br />projects such as: <br />a. Downtown Storm Water Abatement along San Marcos River <br />b. Regional Tactical Operations Command Center <br />c. Commuter rail in association with Lone Star Rail <br />d. A unified bus system in coordination with Texas State University -San <br />Marcos <br />
