PERFORMING WORK ON THEIR HOMESTEADS ¡ AND A <br />-s- :oæ: cn15 MINIMUM ELECTRICAL PERMIT FEE; AMENDING <br />au =5 ~ SECTION 5-168 OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF <br />\. . - uB ORDINANCES REGARDING WORK UNDER CERTAIN <br />ELECTRICAL PERMITS; PROVIDING FOR <br />SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING <br />ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR <br />PUBLICATION; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS <br /> <br />1. The City Building Inspection Division staff has <br />recommended a revision to Section 5-2 of the San Marcos Code of <br />Ordinances to require all vehicles used by construction <br />contractors to be identified with the contractors' names and <br />license numbers on the side. <br />2. The City Electrical Board has recommended that Section <br />5-132 of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances be amended regarding <br />permitted electrical wiring types and methods. <br />3. The City Electrical Board has recommended that Sections <br />5-151, 5-l52 and 5-l67 of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances be <br />amended regarding licensing requirements for maintenance <br />electricians and persons performing work on their homesteads¡ and <br />a minimum electrical permit fee. , <br />4. The City electrical Board has recommended revisions to <br />Section 5-168 of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances regarding work <br />performed under electrical permits after the death or inability of <br />the permit holder to continue to supervise the work. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 5-2 of the San Marcos Code of <br />Ordinances is amended by adding a new subsection (f) to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />(f) Each building¡ electrical¡ plumbing and <br />mechanical contractor licensed by the city or the <br />State of Texas and doing business within the <br />jurisdiction of the City shall display its company <br />name and license number in letters not less than <br />two (2) inches in height¡ with a three-quarter <br />(3/4) inch stroke¡ on both sides of all vehicles <br />used by the contractor. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That Section 5-132 of the San Marcos Code of <br />I Ordinances is amended by deleting subdivision (3) of subsection <br />(d) ¡ and by revising subsections (e) and (j) to read as follows: <br />\ <br />(e) Nonmetallic-sheathed cable (Article 336) and <br />shielded nonmetallic-sheathed cable (Article 337) <br />shall be permitted to be used only in dwellings, as <br />defined in Article loa. These cable types shall <br />not be used in hotels, motels, bed and breakfast <br />with more than two rental sleeping rooms, rooming <br />houses with more than two tenant sleeping rooms ¡ <br />fraternity and sorority houses, or buildings <br />located in the Central Business Area District as <br />defined in the General Zoning Ordinance. <br />
