<br />REGULAR MEETIN:3 !-fEW ON SEPTEMBER 9. 1958 <br /> <br />~ <br />., J37 <br /> <br />On the 9th day of September, 1958, at 4:00 o'clock P.M., cst, the' <br />Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in regular session, Mayor C. M. Allen <br />presiding. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order with the following present: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor C. M. Allen <br />Aldermen S. R. Beecroft <br />W. M. Davis <br />B. D. Hillburn <br />Herman Korff <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Alderman H. W. Steakley <br /> <br />Also present: <br /> <br />B. R. FUller, City Manager <br />Carlyn Tatch, City Secretary <br />Mr. Joe EchOls, Echols, Inc. <br />Mrs. Roland Manske, AAlJI/ <br />Mrs. Peevey, San Antonio Light <br />Mr. Butter, KCNY <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of August 12th were approved as <br />recorded, on motion made and seconded by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />The regular order of business was dispensed with to hear Mr. Joe Echols <br />of Echols, Inc. Mr. Echols stated his purpose was to familiarize the Council <br />with the "Heart-O-TexaSc Feature Magazine", being published by EchOls, Inc., <br />advertising the area surrounding San Marcos. Mr. Echols showed the Council a <br />proof of the magazine, giving the general lay-out, which included pictures and <br />descriptions of local businesses. Mr. Echols stated he would like to offer the <br />City a two page space in this publication for fifty dollars ($50.00), one-half <br />the regular price. Mayor Allen stated that he felt that Echols, Inc. was publish- <br />ing a splendid magazine and complimented the publishers, however, the City could <br />not expend monies for advertising. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller stated the San Marcos Independent School District <br />Board of Trustees were unable to meet with the Council and discuss installation <br />of utilities to the new high school site. C. was offering the <br />Citys' Jr. Lien Bonds ($130,000.00) for sale. City Manager Fuller stated that <br />information had been received that the Housing and Home Finance Agency had not <br />received an acceptable bid for the bonds. <br /> <br />As October 24th is United Nations Day, Mayor Allen appointed <br />Mri.Roland Manske chairman of the United_Nations Program. The Council approved <br />Mayor AlIens' appointment and commended Mrs. Manske on her participation in <br />civic affairs. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller stated that Or. Moore's appointment as City Health <br />Officer would terminate on September lOth. On motion by Alderman Hillburn and <br />seconded by Alderman Korff, Dr. Wm. L. Moore was unanimously reappointed to serve <br />as City Health Officer for anotner term to expire September 10, 1959. <br /> <br />l <br />
