<br />156 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1977-1-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS APPROVING A MUTUAL AID LAW ENFORCEMENT AGREEMENT FOR <br />THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HAYS COUNTY MAJOR CRIMES TASK FORCE <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO <br />EXECUTE SAME IN AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the detection and apprehension of individuals who conduct criminal <br />activities is hampered by the movement of criminal activities between enforcement <br />jurisdictions and into jurisdictions away from that where said individuals reside; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, past experience has indicated that a cooperative effort between the City <br />of San Marcos and Hays County in matters of criminal investigation has been effective <br />in detecting and deterring criminal activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a need exists to establish new channels of communication bewteen law <br />enforcement agencies in Hays County; to focus combined law enforcement resources <br />toward singular criminal elements and activities; and to establish a central <br />criminal intelligence file which can be utilized by all law enforcement agencies <br />operating in Hays County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Legislature has enacted legislation to encourage the formation <br />of mutual aid law enforcement task force operations between separate governmental <br />and jurisdictional entities for the purpose of achieving more effective investigation <br />of criminal activities and more efficient enforcement of the laws of the State; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the City of San Marcos and Hays County have indica- <br />ted-their desire to form a mutual aid law enforcement task force to be known as and <br />designated as "The Hays County Major Crime Task Force'l, hereinafter referred to as <br />"Task Forcetl; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Part 1. That the agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein be and is <br />hereby approved by the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />part 2. That the City Manager, Mr. James Baugh, or his successor, be, and is <br />hereby, authorized to execute same in and on behalf of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas. <br /> <br />Part 3.
