-17- normal expiration date, the licensee must pay all license fees and/or post all surety bonds pursuant to other provisions of this code in order to receive a valid license to continue electrical work. Sec. 9-6.5. Right of appeal. Any person denied a license or whose license has been suspended by the Electrical Board, except where such cancellation or suspension is automatic under the provisions of this chapter, shall have the right to file a petition within ten days of the date of the denial or suspension for a hearing before tne Municipal Court Judge. The Court Clerk shall set the matter for hearing with no less than ten (10) days written notice to the aggrieved person of the date of the hearing. The Judge shall take testimony and examine the facts of the case, and determine whether or not there was substantial evidence to support the decision of the Board under the provisions of this chapter. Sec. 9-7. Amendments to the national electrical code. The following rules shall take precedence over and supercede any portion of the NEC where conflicts occur: (a) The following minimum wire sizes shall be used for the type of circuit indicated: No branch circuit shall have wire smaller than #12 AWG. This does not prohibit smaller wire sizes for circuits 90 volts and lower, nor for control circuits. Built-in ovens shall have a minimum wire size of #10 AWG copper. Ranges shall have a minimum wire size of #8 AWG copper, or equivalent aluminum. Window air conditioners shall have a minimum wire size of #10 AWG copper. Water heaters shall have a minimum wire size of #10 AWG copper. (b) No aluminum wire shall be used smaller than # 6 AWG. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (c) No copperclad wire shall be permitted. (d) Certain wiring methods permitted under the NEC shall not be allowed (except where existing prior to adoption of this code), specifically: (1) (2) (3) (4) Article 320 - Open Wire On Insulators Article 324 Concealed Knob-and-Tube Wiring Article 333 - Armored Cable Article 334 Metal-Clad Cable (this prohibits interlocking tape and corrugated tube versions of MC cable, but permits the smooth tube version.) (e) Nonmetallic-sheathed Cable (Article 336) and shielded nonmetallic-sheathed cable (Article 337) shall be permitted to be used only in dwellings, as defined in Article 100. It specifically shall not be used in hotels, motels, rooming houses, fraternity or sorority houses.
