<br />-5- <br /> <br />after notifying the responsible parties and giving <br />them sufficient time to correct the problem; <br /> <br />(d) To order compliance with provisions of <br />this Chapter where a change of use occurs in a <br />building which requires changes or alterations to <br />existing wiring; <br /> <br />(e) To disconnect electrical service in cases <br />of emergency where necessary for safety of persons <br />or property or where electrical equipment may <br />interfere with the work of the Fire Department; <br /> <br />(f) To attach to electrical equipment or <br />electrical meters any official notice or seal to <br />prevent the use of electricity; <br /> <br />(g) To order all persons to cease doing any <br />work being done in violation of this Chapter; and, <br /> <br />(h) Any other duties set forth in this Code <br />or which may be reasonably necessary to implement <br />the provisions of this Code. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-4. <br /> <br />Requirements for electrician' s licenses. <br /> <br />(a) Except as otherwise provided it shall be <br />unlawful for any person to do electrical <br />installations subject to this Code unless he or she <br />is licensed as a Master Electrician, or unless he <br />or she is a JourneYman or Apprentice Electrician <br />licensed under the provisions of this Chapter and <br />doing electrical work under the supervision, <br />direction and control of a licensed Master <br />Electrician. <br /> <br />(b) When two or more Master Electricians are <br />working on the same job, the supervision, <br />direction, and control of the work shall be the <br />responsibility of the person to whom the permit was <br />issued. Any person holding a valid license need <br />not procure a lesser license. <br /> <br />(c) The holder of a Maintenance Electrician <br />License may, upon emploYment by one employer on a <br />permanent basis, perform work of an electrical <br />nature, restricted to maintenance, repair and <br />replacement of any electrical conductor or <br />equipment pertaining to branch circuits or similar <br />work within the confines of the building or <br />premises of the employer without the supervision, <br />direction, or control of a master electrician. The <br />Maintenance Electrician is specifically limited to <br />work on premises occupied by the employer. <br />Maintenance electricians are prohibited from <br />installing any additional wiring or equipment. <br /> <br />(d) A property owner may peform electrical <br />work in a residence owned and occupied by him or <br />her as his or her homestead provided, that all work <br />performed shall be subject to permit, inspection, <br />and approval in accordance with the terms of this <br />ordinance. The work must be performed by the home <br />owner. <br /> <br />(e) Electrical work done by persons engaged <br />by any electric utility company in the construction <br />and maintenance of an electric utility system shall <br />not be subject to this ordinance. <br />
