-5- after notifying the responsible parties and giving them sufficient time to correct the problem; (d) To order compliance with provisions of this Chapter where a change of use occurs in a building which requires changes or alterations to existing wiring; (e) To disconnect electrical service in cases of emergency where necessary for safety of persons or property or where electrical equipment may interfere with the work of the Fire Department; (f) To attach to electrical equipment or electrical meters any official notice or seal to prevent the use of electricity; (g) To order all persons to cease doing any work being done in violation of this Chapter; and, (h) Any other duties set forth in this Code or which may be reasonably necessary to implement the provisions of this Code. Sec. 9-4. Requirements for electrician' s licenses. (a) Except as otherwise provided it shall be unlawful for any person to do electrical installations subject to this Code unless he or she is licensed as a Master Electrician, or unless he or she is a JourneYman or Apprentice Electrician licensed under the provisions of this Chapter and doing electrical work under the supervision, direction and control of a licensed Master Electrician. (b) When two or more Master Electricians are working on the same job, the supervision, direction, and control of the work shall be the responsibility of the person to whom the permit was issued. Any person holding a valid license need not procure a lesser license. (c) The holder of a Maintenance Electrician License may, upon emploYment by one employer on a permanent basis, perform work of an electrical nature, restricted to maintenance, repair and replacement of any electrical conductor or equipment pertaining to branch circuits or similar work within the confines of the building or premises of the employer without the supervision, direction, or control of a master electrician. The Maintenance Electrician is specifically limited to work on premises occupied by the employer. Maintenance electricians are prohibited from installing any additional wiring or equipment. (d) A property owner may peform electrical work in a residence owned and occupied by him or her as his or her homestead provided, that all work performed shall be subject to permit, inspection, and approval in accordance with the terms of this ordinance. The work must be performed by the home owner. (e) Electrical work done by persons engaged by any electric utility company in the construction and maintenance of an electric utility system shall not be subject to this ordinance.
