<br />-6- <br /> <br />(f) No electrical work subj ect to this Code <br />shall be performed at any site unless one licensed <br />Master or Journeyman is present while the work is <br />being performed. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-4.1. Qua1ifications for e1ectrical license. <br /> <br />(a) Master Electrician--persons applying for <br />a Master Electrician's License shall show proof of <br />five years experience as a licensed journeyman <br />working as an electrician under the direct <br />supervision of a Master Electrician, or equivalent <br />verifiable experience, or two years experience as a <br />Master Electrician, or equivalent. <br /> <br />(b) Journeyman Electrician--persons applying <br />for a Journeyman Electrician's License shall show <br />proof of four years experience as a licensed <br />apprentice or evidence of holding a journeyman <br />license in any other jurisdiction, or other <br />reasonable evidence of competency at the journeyman <br />level. <br /> <br />(c) Maintenance Electrician--persons applying <br />shall be interviewed by the Electrical Board and <br />license issued, according to criteria approved and <br />published by the Board for all Maintenance <br />Electricians. <br /> <br />(d) Apprentice Electrician--persons applying <br />for any apprentice electrician I s license shall be <br />at least sixteen years old. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-4.2. Electrical license examinations. <br /> <br />(a) The Electrical Board shall write an <br />examination for Master Electricians consisting of <br />not less than 100 questions designed to determine <br />the qualifications of the applicant to supervise, <br />direct and control persons holding journeyman and <br />apprentice electrician's licenses in the safe <br />installation of electrical work covered by this <br />Code. The test shall examine the ability of the <br />applicant to research and arrive at correct answers <br />to normal questions that occur during electrical <br />installations, maintenance or repairs, using the <br />NEC and this Code as the authority for its <br />conclusions. The Board shall allow the applicant <br />to use materials during the examination that are <br />normally available to him or her at a place of <br />business, including, but not limited to a copy of <br />the NEC, reference books and a calculator. <br /> <br />(b) The Electrical Board shall write an <br />examination for journeyman electricians consisting <br />of not less than 50 questions designed to determine <br />the qualifications of the applicant to correctly <br />install electrical work in accordance with the <br />applicable Code, and shall be restricted to <br />questions of procedure and installation techniques. <br /> <br />(c) The Electrical Board shall write an <br />examination for maintenance electricians consisting <br />of an oral test to determine the qualifications of <br />the applicant to correctly install electrical work <br />in accordance with the applicable Code, and shall <br />be restricted to questions of procedure and <br />installation techniques. <br /> <br />(d) The Electrical Board, working in <br />conjunction with City staff, may at its exclusive <br />option provide for testing of candidates for both <br />
