<br />Memorandum of Understanding <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />university and to streets adjacent to such property. <br /> <br />Likewise, <br /> <br />ordinarily the City's officers will confine their activities to <br /> <br />areas within the city not owned, leased, or controlled by SWT. <br /> <br />However, officers from either entity may operate within the usual <br /> <br />areas of the other when responding to a request for assistance or <br /> <br />while otherwise in the performance of their duties. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Rendering Assistance <br /> <br />4.01. <br /> <br />Officers of either department may pursue violators <br /> <br />through their jurisdiction without regard to their department's <br /> <br />ordinary area of operation. <br /> <br />4.02. <br /> <br />In situations where immediate assistance is necessary <br /> <br />to preserve life or prevent serious bodily injury, the police <br /> <br />department of either party may request assistance from the other. <br /> <br />4.03. <br /> <br />Either party may request assistance from the other in <br /> <br />controlling traffic or crowds. <br /> <br />The responding department will <br /> <br />assist the requesting department to the extent that it is able, <br /> <br />without jeopardizing the performance of its primary responsi- <br /> <br />bilities. <br /> <br />Such requests shall have supervisory approval before <br /> <br />they are communicated. <br /> <br />4.04. <br /> <br />When responding to a request for assistance under 4.02 <br /> <br />and 4.03 above, the peace officers of the responding department <br /> <br />will act under the supervision, direction, and control of the <br /> <br />requesting department. <br /> <br />4.05. <br /> <br />All requests for assistance shall have the approval of <br /> <br />the on-duty supervisor of the requesting agency and of the on-duty <br />
