<br />JOB TITLE: <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />TRAINING: <br /> <br />REPORTS TO: <br /> <br />MINIMUM COMMITMENT: <br /> <br />SAN MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />ADULT EDUCATION TUTOR <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Volunteer Tutor <br /> <br />To help adults learn to read, write, <br />compute or speak English as a second <br />language through a program of individual <br />tutoring. <br /> <br />To meet regularly with students to tutor <br />them and review their work. To give <br />students encouragement and help them <br />develop a positive attitude by showing <br />acceptance of them. To diagnose the <br />educational needs of their students and <br />develop goals and lesson plans that are <br />appropriate for each student. To report <br />statistics on their tutoring session to <br />the Lifelong Learning Project Coordinator <br />on a monthly basis. <br /> <br />Must be dependable and committed to the <br />program. Must have a positive attitude <br />toward people and learning. Must be <br />friendly and patient. Must have a high <br />school diploma. Spanish speaking ability <br />is preferred. <br /> <br />All volunteers must attend an eight hour <br />tutor training workshop. <br /> <br />The Lifelong Learning Project Coordinator <br /> <br />Volunteers must be willing to commit at <br />least two hours per week for at least six <br />months. <br />
