2.1.7 Conduct geotechnical investigation for bridge abutments and traffic signal <br />foundations. Slope stability, embankment recommendations and retaining wall <br />testing and recommendations are not included in this scope of services but can be <br />added by supplemental agreement. (See Fugro Scope and Fee Proposal) <br />2.1.8 Coordinate and meet with Texas State University on design issues and the <br />possibility of constructing a prefabricated bridge and sidewalk on university <br />property. <br />2.1.9 Obtain all traffic and pedestrian counts and existing traffic studies within the <br />project limits from the City of San Marcos and /or TxDOT. Conducting traffic <br />counts are not included in this scope of services but can be added by supplemental <br />agreement. <br />2.2 Preliminary Engineering Report. Halff will prepare a Preliminary Engineering Report <br />that will include the following. <br />2.2.1 Project introduction and overview <br />2.2.2 Summary of data collection <br />2.2.3 Horizontal alignment of all existing utilities and identify possible conflicts <br />2.2.4 Identification of existing and proposed easements <br />2.2.5 Schematic exhibits of proposed options /alignments for the bike /pedestrian facility <br />improvements. The report will include the following exhibits: <br />a. Bike /pedestrian bridge over the San Marcos River south of Aquarena Springs <br />Drive. <br />b. Bike /pedestrian improvements at Sessom Drive and Aquarena Springs Drive. <br />c. Bike /pedestrian improvements along Sessom Drive from Aquarena Springs <br />Drive to N. Comanche Street <br />d. Realignment of the Peques /State Street intersection with Sessom Drive. <br />Plans shall be on 11" x 17" paper at a 1" = 40' scale and done in Microstation <br />(.dgn) format using available GIS and aerial imagery for the recommended option <br />2.2.6 Review existing drainage calculations for the proposed storm drain improvements <br />for the selected intersection realignment design at Peques St. and Sessom Drive. <br />The calculations shall be provided by the City of San Marcos. <br />2.2.7 Comparison of each option/alignment with a preliminary opinion of cost for each <br />option. <br />2.2.8 Identification of need for additional investigations such as subsurface utility <br />engineering (SUE), geotechnical, drainage studies, and/or environmental studies. <br />2.2.9 Preliminary cross section design showing pavement surface, sidewalks, and side <br />slope routines. <br />2.2.10 Review existing traffic data and applicable Traffic Impact Studies to verify if <br />traffic volumes from previous traffic impact studies are consistent with most <br />current data; the recommendations from the traffic impact studies and compatible <br />with the project, and development impacting corridor is consistent with that <br />projected in the traffic impact studies.
