<br />-4- <br /> <br />(f) Police department personnel while receiving assignments to <br />perform services under this division, are ineligible to <br />receive assignments for the performance of any other types <br />of special assignment services under this chapter except <br />special assignment services under division 3 of this <br />article which may be performed while concurrently <br />receiving assignments for the performance of services <br />under this division. Nothing herein shall prevent police <br />department personnel from discontinuing the acceptance of <br />monthly assignments for services under this division and, <br />upon such discontinuance, they may become eligible to <br />receive assignments for the performance of another type of <br />special assignment service, subject to the <br />satisfaction of all qualifications, recommendation, and <br />selection requirements for each type of special assignment <br />service and subject to the director's determination of <br />the necessity for any and all types of special assignment <br />services according to the needs of both the police and <br />fire departments. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-38. <br /> <br />Compensation. <br /> <br />(a) Special assignment field training officers and the special <br />assignment field training officer coordinator shall be <br />compensated $10.00 per ten (10) hour shift in addition <br />to regular pay for performance of special assignment <br />services duty during their regular police duty <br />shift. Such officers and coordinator shall not be <br />compensated for overtime (any time over ten (10) hours) <br />special assignment services duty performed or for special <br />assignment services duty performed during any period of <br />time other than the officers' or coordinator's regular <br />ten (10) hour police duty shift. Further, they shall not <br />be compensated more than said $10.00 per shift for special <br />assignment services, regardless of the number of trainees <br />per shift or the number of field training officers <br />concurrently performing special assignment services duty. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-39. <br /> <br />Status of employees. <br /> <br />Police department personnel performing special assignment <br />services under this division are in an on-duty status with <br />full workers' compensation, health and medical, disability, <br />pension and retirement coverages and benefits and all other <br />related benefits and coverages. Such personnel shall obey all <br />laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the city and <br />all other applicable jurisdictions while performing special <br />assignment services duty. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-40. <br /> <br />Interference with police officer. <br /> <br />It is unlawful for any person to interfere with a police <br />officer who is performing official duties under this Division. <br />Violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor punishable <br />upon conviction by a fine not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) <br />and not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00). <br /> <br />PART 6. That there is hereby created within Article III of <br />Chapter 21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />Division 1, General Provisions, consisting of present Sections <br />21-25 and 21-26 which are hereby renumbered as Sections 21-41 <br />and 21-42, respectively. <br /> <br />PART 7. That there is hereby created within Article III of <br />Chapter 21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />Divisions 2 and 3, Special Assignment Services--Emergency Medical <br />Services, and Special Assignment Services--Fire Fighter Public Safety <br />Officer, respectively, which said Divisions shall read as as follows: <br />
