<br />-6- <br /> <br />all types of special assignment services according to the <br />needs of the fire department. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-45. <br /> <br />Compensation. <br /> <br />(a) Fire department employees shall be compensated $125.00 <br />per month in addition to their regular pay for performance <br />of special assignment services duty under this division. <br />Service under this Division for periods of less than one <br />month shall be compensated on a pro rata basis. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-46. <br /> <br />Status of employees. <br /> <br />While performing special assignment services, all fire <br />department employees are in an on-duty status with full <br />workers' compensation, health and medical, disability, pension <br />and retirement coverages and benefits and all other related <br />benefits and coverages. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT SERVICES-- <br />FIREFIGHTER PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER <br /> <br />Sec. 21-48. <br /> <br />Purposes. <br /> <br />The purposes of this division are: <br /> <br />(1) To assist the police department by providing the services <br />of a station desk officer at the police department <br />and perform other police department duties as assigned; <br /> <br />(2) To distribute services duty equitably among qualified fire <br />department employees of the San Marcos Fire Department; <br /> <br />(3) To ensure that employees performing services are in an <br />on-duty status for purposes of workers' compensation, <br />health and medical, disability, pension and retirement <br />coverages and benefits and all other related purposes; <br /> <br />(4) To provide a <br />services. <br /> <br />uniform <br /> <br />rate of <br /> <br />pay <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />performance <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Sec. 21-49. <br /> <br />Assignments, number <br />employees, hours of <br /> <br />and qualifications of <br />service and supervision. <br /> <br />(a) Up to three (3) fire department employees holding the <br />rank of firefighter and holding basic police reserve <br />certification by the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement <br />Officer Standards and Education, recommended by the <br />Police Chief and by the Fire Chief and approved by the <br />Director of Public Safety may perform special <br />assignment services under this division. <br /> <br />(b) Special assignment services duty shifts shall be assigned <br />monthly on a roation basis so as to afford equal <br />opportunity to all selected fire department personnel <br />desiring special assignment services duty. <br />
