<br />-7- <br /> <br />(c) Special assignment <br />performed for up to <br />regular twenty-four <br />department. However, <br />fire calls, if any, <br />assignment services <br /> <br />services under this division shall be <br />ten (10) hours of a firefighter's <br />(24) hour duty shift with the fire <br />such employees shall respond to <br />received while performing special <br />duty at the police department; <br /> <br />(d) Fire department employees, while on special assignment <br />services duty, shall be under the supervision of the <br />officer or employee in charge at the police department <br />unless and until called to respond to a fire call as a <br />part of his/her routine fire department duties at which <br />time he/she shall, once released by the officer in charge <br />at the police department, be under the supervision of the <br />officer or employee in charge of the fire station and/or <br />fire department until released by such officer or employee <br />to return to special assignment services duty at the <br />police department; <br /> <br />(e) Fire department personnel, while receiving assignments to <br />perform services under this division, are ineligible to <br />receive assignments for the performance of any other types <br />of special assignment services under this chapter. <br />Nothing herein shall prevent fire department personnel <br />from discontinuing the acceptance of monthly assignments <br />for services under this Division and, upon such <br />discontinuance, they may become eligible to receive <br />assignments for the performance of another type of <br />special assignment service, subject to the <br />satisfaction of all qualifications, recommendation, and <br />selection requirements for each type of special assignment <br />service and subject to the director's determination of <br />the necessity for any and all types of special assignment <br />services according to the needs of both the police and <br />fire departments. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-50. <br /> <br />Compensation. <br /> <br />(a) Fire department employees shall be compensated an <br />additional $10.00 per shift for performing special <br />assignment services duty under this division for a <br />minimum of ten (10) hours of their regular twenty-four <br />(24) hour duty shift. Such employees shall not be <br />compensated for overtime (anytime over ten (10) hours) <br />special assignment services duty or for special <br />assignment services duty performed during any period of <br />time other than such employees' regular twenty-four (24) <br />hour fire duty shift. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-51. <br /> <br />Status of employees. <br /> <br />Fire department employees performing special assignment <br />services under this division are in an on-duty status <br />with full workers' compensation, health and medical, disability, <br />pension and retirement coverages and benefits and all other <br />related benefits and coverages. Such employees shall obey all <br />laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the city and all <br />other applicable jurisdictions while performing special <br />assignment services duty. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-52. <br /> <br />Interference with firefighter. <br /> <br />It is unlawful for any person to interfere with a firefighter <br />who is performing official duties under this Division. <br />Violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor punishable <br />upon conviction by a fine not less than fifty dollars <br />($50.00) and not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00). <br />
