planned for service on phase I. In phase II 500 gpm of pumping
should be constructed in the Lowmans' Ranch development to
supply the elevated tank located in the upper upper pressure
plane. An additional 500 gpm of pumping should be constructed at
Well Site A in phase II to service that portion of the lower
pressure plane completed at that time. In phase III, 1000 gpm of
pumping should be added to Well Site A to raise its capacity to
service most of the lower pressure plane, as well as the newly
constructed elevated tank in the upper pressure plane through the
year 2005. An additional 500 gpm of pumping should be
constructed at the Lowmans' Ranch site to enable it to service the

elevated tank in the upper upper pressure plane through the year
2005.

F.

Water Transmission Lines

The location and sizes of the recommended lines are shown in
Figure 8. They were located along existing roadways where
possible. The lines are sized for 2005 maximum demand flows,
,\'hich includes the ultimate buildout flows for the Lowmans' Ranch

development. The design velocities were kept below 5.0 feet per
second. Where the model calculated very large head losses, even
though the velocity was below 5.0 feet per second, the line size
was increased to reduce the head loss. The lines were looped
where possible to increase the system reliability and increase the
ability to handle concentrated demands, such as for fire fighting.

The lines were designed to be constructed in three separate
phases (Figure 8). This is to correspond with the projected
development of the basin. The first phase will involve service to
the Lowmans' Ranch and Cottonwood Creek Park developments west
of IH-35 and the lines connecton the standpipe on McCarty Lane at
the 770 foot contour with the existing City of San Marcos water
system. These lines are located to service the main portion of the
developments with only minimal line length. The second phase v.ill
involve installing all the system west of IH-35 and that part of the

JONES ð: NEUSE

28
