- Implementing new systems or modifications that eliminate current
data processing weaknesses (e.g., computer response time and
processing capacity).
- Provide a methodology for achieving future user requirements.
8 Since the City wants a comprehensive review of data processing and various
user departments (i.e., attorney's office, finance, tax, utility, administration,
planning, building inspection, engineering, public works, police, municipal
court, fire, health, airport, and parks and recreation) the recommended
scope of this project will be to:
- Define system requirements that are necessary to eliminate current
system weaknesses, and
- Incorporate estimated, additional computer hardware and software
necessary to satisfy current and future demands of City users.
8 To accomplish this, LWFW will review all current applications and conduct
interviews with key departmental personnel, including City management.
L WFW will consider:
- Comments from our management study -- including a determination
of what has changed since the study.
- Accounting standards established by AICPA and GFOA.
- Federal and state reporting requirements.
- Security needs for the automated systems.
8 Upon completing the review, LWFW will answer these specific questions:
- Should the current software be revised and/or replaced?
- What are the specifications of the recommended changes -- computer
equipment and application software?
- How should the City phase the implementation of the improvements?
6
