C. Report on Recommendation: Following the Preliminary Study, the Engineer shall submit a report to the Owner rendering a preferred recommendation as to the course of action the Owner should take regarding further action involving design and construction or rehabilitation of deficiency rectification. Preliminary maps, sketches or layouts will be provided by Engineer to indicate the existing situation and recommendation. 1.1.2 Notification of Desired Action: At the Owner's discretion and upon written notice by the Owner, the Engineer shall accomplish the following tasks: A. Option I - No Corrective Action: Upon completion of the Preliminary Investigation and Coordination Phase of the University Interceptor Project, proceed with the design of the University Interceptor Project as defined by Section 1.2 of this Agreement without consideration of any potential changes for the Main Interceptor Project. B. Option II - Corrective Action: Upon receiving from the Owner written approval of the recommended deficiency rectification, the Engineer shall proceed with the Preliminary, Design and Construction Phases of the Main Interceptor Project as defined below: 1. Preliminary Phase For the Preliminary Investigation and Coordination Phase, the Engineer shall perform the services as defined under Section 1.2.1 of this Agreement, except as noted below: (a) Alternate alignments will not be investigated except by agreement with Owner. (b) Alternate solutions will not be investigated beyond those described in the Preliminary Design Report. (c) Preliminary layouts, maps and sketches will not be provided for alternate alignments. 2. Design Phase For the Design, Plans and Specifications Phase, Designs, Plans and Specifications will be prepared for the reco~nended improvements as described by the Design Report. The services involved shall be as defined under Section 1.2.2 of this Agreement. -3-
