Construction Phase <br /> For the General Representation and Observation During <br /> Construction Phase, the Engineer shall furnish the Services as <br /> defined under Section 1.4 of this Agreement. <br /> 1.2 UNIVERSITY INTERCEPTOR <br /> 1.2.1 Preliminary Phase <br /> A. Preliminary Investigation and Coordination: The <br /> Engineer will conduct a preliminary investigation and outline the <br /> coordination necessary to prepare Designs, Plans and <br /> Specifications for the Interceptor Project. This investigation <br /> and coordination will include the following: <br /> 1. Attend one preliminary conference with the Owner and <br /> other interested parties. <br /> 2. Obtain from the Owner and review information on existing <br /> and approved plats, existing utilities, all existing easement and <br /> right of way documents, and related data. <br /> 3. Investigate one alignment, to be designated by the <br /> Owner, with consideration given to construction cost, ease of <br /> construction, ease of obtaining easements or rights-of-way, and <br /> limitation on service area and simplification of the river <br /> crossing for the Main Interceptor. <br /> 4. Establish preliminary alignment. Walk preliminary <br /> alignment with the Owner and other interested parties. Owner is <br /> to obtain written authorization for access from property owners. <br /> Engineer will make necessary adjustments to preliminary alignment <br /> for easements, property ownership and physical and environmental <br /> constraints. <br /> 5. Contact Department of Highways and Public Transportation <br /> and railroads for criteria for design and obtain applications for <br /> appropriate permits. Owner shall submit permits for agency <br /> approval using technical data and sketches provided by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> B. Design Report: The Engineer will prepare a Letter <br /> Report describing the results of the Preliminary Investigation and <br /> Coordination, and presenting the guidelines to be used for <br /> -4- <br />
