Temporary construction, approximately 8' x 12'. <br /> Photographs of the buildings and improvements listed are shown in <br /> Attachment 4. <br /> Most of these improvements have been in place since the early <br /> 1940's and 50's, many are badly in need of repair. All <br /> facilities are within the boundary of the land to be conveyed <br /> except for #6-367, the fire station. When the land is conveyed to <br /> the City of San Marcos, it is anticipated that usage of the fire <br /> station will be retained by the Gary Job Corps Center; however, <br /> the City may construct a municipall y-owned station nearby. <br /> The City of San Marcos does not intend to raze all of the <br /> facilities immediately. Those that can be used for aeronautical <br /> purposes will be leased, will be improved and remodeled through <br /> the use of private funds. All improvements and remodeling will <br /> be done under the codes and ordinances of the City of San Marcos. <br /> Those buildings and structures not suitable for continued use as <br /> airport facilities will be relocated or razed to make available <br /> badly needed land. <br /> 9. In order to develop and utilize the property for airport purposes <br /> it would be necessary that the City obtain Fee Title to the <br /> property in fee. <br /> 10. Justification of Need: At the present time, the City of San <br /> Marcos is experiencing rapid increase in demand for facilities at <br /> San Marcos Municipal Airport, and because of the airport's role <br /> as reliever to Robert Mueller Airport in Austin, Texas, <br /> additional land area will required for airport and aviation <br /> facili ties to develop. The land currently being used by Gary <br /> Job Corps Center is ideally suited for airport utilization <br /> without major cost to the City or the FAA. The Gary Job Corps <br /> buildings presently on or within the boundary of the land area <br /> requested are, in large measure, in extremely poor condition and <br /> are utilized for activities that could be accommodated within <br /> other Job Corp facilities. Many of the facilities are in poor <br /> condition and would require major expenditures to improve them to <br /> normal academic standards; such expenditures could probably be <br />
