<br /> -5- <br />receive application and issue certificates and tags for <br />animals at the time of vaccination. Copies of all <br />certificates issued shall be distributed and transmitted to <br />various city agencies in accordance with arrangements made by <br />the animal control officer with the veterinarians. The <br />animal control officer shall maintain a central filing place <br />for copies of the certificate. When applying for additional <br />certificates and tags the veterinarian shall account to the <br />animal control officer for all those previously supplied to <br />him. At that time the veterinarian shall remit to the animal <br />control officer all registration fees collected. He shall be <br />ht=:l (; Cinanc:La,11y responsible for any other certificates and <br />tags no longer in his possession that have not been issued or <br />voided and returned to the animal control officer. The <br />animal control officer is authorized not to supply additional <br />certificates and tags to any veterinarian í"ho fails to <br />account for all those previously furnished him by the animal <br />control officer. All registration fees collected by any <br />veterinarian are payable to the city upon demand. <br />Sec. 3-26. Rabies vaccination required. <br />It shall be the duty of the owner or keeper of each and <br />every dog over the age of four (4) months kept in the city to <br />have such dog vaccinated against rabies by a practicing <br />veterinarian at least once each year. <br />Sec. 3-27. Fee. <br />There is hereby fixed and assessed as a police regulation <br />for the protection of the public health a registration fee of <br />two dollars ($2.ØØ) per dog per annum against the owner or <br />keeper of each and every dog kept in the city. <br />Sec. 3-28. Issuance. <br />Upon payment of the registration fee required under this <br />division and pLesentation of a certificate by a practicing <br />veterinarian showing that the dog has been vaccinated against <br />rabies and such vaccination is current, the animal control <br />officer or his designee shall supply to each applicant a tag <br />suitable to be fastened upon a collar around the dog's neck. <br />It shall be the duty of the animal cont::ol officer or his <br />designee to provide suitable metal tags for such dogs, which <br />tags shall evidence the payment of the registration fee and <br />the registration of such dogs. No registration tag shall be <br />issued unless the application is accompanied by such <br />veterinarian's certificate. <br />Sec. 3-29. Term. <br />The registration issued under this Division 2 shall run from <br />the date of licensing for twelve (12) months. <br />Sec. 3-39. Tag to be worn by dog. <br />It shall be the duty of the owner or keeper of each dog to <br />have and to keep the tag issued under this division at all <br />times during the year securely fastened around the neck of <br />such dog. The failure of the owner in this respect shall <br />have the same effect as if no registration fee had been paid <br />upon such dog. <br />Sec. 3-31. Transfer. <br />(a) No person shall use a registration tag for any dog other <br />than the one for which it was issued. <br />
