<br /> -6- <br />(b) If there is a change in ownership of a registered dog, <br />the new owner shall have the registration transferred to the <br />new owner's name. Application for such transfer shall be <br />made in person or by mail to the animal control officer and <br />be accompanied by a fee of ten (lØ) dollars per dog. <br />See.. 3-32. Exemptions. <br />Fee-exempt registrations may be issued for the following: <br /> (1) Police or sheriff's department's dogs. <br /> (2) Dogs trained to work for the blind or the <br /> hearing-impaired. <br />Eligibility for fee-exempt registration does not relieve the <br />owner of his responsibility under other provisions of this <br />Article. <br />Sec. 3-33. Records to be kept.. <br />The animal control officer shall keep in a book kept for the <br />registration of dogs, the number of the registration tag <br />issued, the name and address of the owner or keeper of the <br />dog, and a description of such dog. <br />Sec. 3-34. Revocation. <br />(a) The Municipal Court Judge may revoke any dog <br />registration after a hearing for any one or more of the <br />following reasons: <br /> (1) Impoundment of a dog by the city more than <br /> three (3) times during a twelve (12) month <br /> period. <br /> (2) Hore than three (3) final convictions of a <br /> person for violating this article when such <br /> convictions relate to the dog which is being <br /> considered for revocation of its registration. <br /> (3) Upon a determination that the dog is a <br /> dangerous dog, as defined by Section 3-16 of <br /> this article. <br />(b) Upon revocation of the registration of any dog, the <br />animal control officer shall immediately notify the owner of <br />the dog of said action in writing. Written notification <br />shall be deemed made when a certified letter, return receipt <br />requested, addressed to the last known mailing address of the <br />dog owner is deposited in the U.S. mail or the notification <br />is personally delivered to the dog owner. <br />(c) Upon the expiration of ten (lØ) days after written <br />notification of revocation is delivered or deposited in the <br />U.S. mail as provided above, it shall be unlawful for any <br />person to keep, maintain or harbor within the city limits any <br />dog which has had its registration revoked. <br />(d) Immediately and automatically upon a finding of an <br />unprovoked bite of a person by a registered dog in the city <br />limits by the Municipal Court of the City of San Marcos, the <br />registration of such dog is revoked, and it shall be unlawful <br />for any person to continue to keep, maintain or harbor such <br />dog within the city limits after twenty-four (24) hours has <br />expired from the time of the Court's said finding. <br />
