City Council Meeting Minutes June 17, 2014 <br />requirement of fire sprinkler systems, to cottage style multi - family dwellings; providing <br />a savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and providing <br />an effective date. <br />Matt Lewis, Director of Development Services, provided a brief presentation to Council. <br />Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 9:40 p.m. <br />Harry Savio, 8140 Exchange Dr, addressed the Council regarding the loose language. There are <br />several single family home products being built in Austin on a single lot called single family <br />detached condominiums. He spoke in opposition of this Ordinance and stated that the Council <br />would be locking out this type of product from coming to San Marcos. <br />There being no further comments, the Mayor closed the Public Hearing at 9:43p.m. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Scott, seconded by Council Member Prewitt, that <br />Ordinance 2014 -37 be approved, on the first of two readings. The motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />For: 5 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak, <br />Council Member Scott and Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Thomason <br />Absent: 1 - Council Member Prather <br />16. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -39, on the second of two readings, amending <br />the Electric Utility Line Extension Policy to require customers to pay all costs of line <br />extensions above $1,500; providing for publication. <br />Tom Taggart, Executive Director of Public Services, provided a presentation to the Council. <br />Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 10:02 p.m. <br />Harry Savio, 814 Exchange Dr, Austin Tx, reminded the Council the they just increased the <br />impact fees and that this has additional implications. He asked that the Council confirm by <br />amendment that single family housing would be exempt. <br />There being no further comments, the Mayor closed the Public Hearing at 10:04 p.m. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Scott, seconded by Council Member Prewitt, that <br />Ordinance 2014 -39 be approved, on the first of two readings.
