City Council Meeting Minutes July 1, 2014 <br />Council look at how we provided services to non - profits and provided the example of the food <br />bank having to pay 30 bucks a week for the rental of the Dunbar Center. <br />Taylor Zavala, addressed the Council regarding hydrofluorosilicic acid. She was part of the <br />piece of legislation that was passed by the Associated Student Government that was in support <br />of the removal of fluoride from the Texas State University Water Supply. She stated that 50 % of <br />the campus is on City water and she would like to see it free of hydrofluorosilicic acid. <br />Dr. Randy Rogers, addressed the Council regarding the fluoridation of the water supply. He <br />asked for the Council to have an open vote on the issue. He stated that it is a bio- hazard and it <br />is toxic. He stated that studies show that fluoride has been known to cause various cancers and <br />cause other health issues. He stated that you're is not medicating, you're a poisoning people. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />A motion was made by Council Member Prather, seconded by Council Member Scott, to approve <br />the Consent Agenda with the exception of item #9 and 10, which were pulled and considered <br />separately. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak, <br />Council Member Thomason, Council Member Scott, Council Member Prather and <br />Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 0 <br />5. Consider approval of the June 17, 2014 Regular Meeting Minutes <br />6. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -35, on the second of two readings, amending <br />Chapter 4, Article 4 of the City's Land Development Code by adding a new Division 3 <br />that establishes Supplemental Multifamily Residential Design Standards; providing a <br />savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and providing an <br />effective date. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Prather, seconded by Council Member Scott, that this <br />Ordinance be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak, <br />Council Member Scott, Council Member Prather and Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Thomason <br />7. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -36, on the second of two readings, amending <br />Chapter 7, Article 2 and Chapter 8, Article 1 of the Land Development Code and <br />Chapter 86, Articles 2 and 9 of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances to prohibit private <br />water wells on property connected to the City's water and wastewater systems; <br />providing a savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and <br />providing an effective date. <br />8. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -37, on the second of two readings, amending <br />Chapter 14, Article 3, Residential Code for One and Two - Family Dwellings, of the City <br />of San Marcos Code of Ordinances to apply stricter fire safety standards, including the <br />requirement of fire sprinkler systems, to cottage style multi - family dwellings; providing <br />a savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and providing <br />an effective date. <br />City of San Marcos Page 3 <br />
