<br /> INDIVIDUAL COMMISSION REPORTS <br />Airport Commission <br /> <br />Visited by Bennie Blansett on December l2, 1988. <br />Problems reported by the Commission: Some individual <br />commissioners reported some frustration with the city staff <br />operating with their own agenda and ignoring the recommendations <br />of both the Airport Commission and the Airport Manager. <br />Sunset Recommendations: The members of this commission are to be <br />commended for their dedication and enormous amount of time they <br />spend working with the Airport Manager and numerous other entities <br />in ensuring the safe, efficient, and prof i table operation of the <br />San Marcos Airport for the benefit of all citizens of San Marcos <br />and the surrounding area. <br />Building Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals <br /> <br />To our knowledge the Building Code Board and the Mechanical Board <br />did not meet during the period of the current Sunset Advisory <br />Commission. <br />Observation: In addition to this Board there appears to be two <br />other similar type boards called the Plumbing Board of Adjustments <br />and Appeals and one called the Mechanical Board of Adjustments and <br />Appeals. The Plumbing Board did meet but it has a much broader <br />mission than just appeals and adjustments. <br />Sunset recommendations: One Board of Adjustments and Appeals be <br />established for building codes covering general contracting, <br />plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning. Membership <br />could be one expert from the aforementioned disciplines and one <br />member from the general public for a total of five members. Also <br />recommend the name of the Plumbing Board of Adjustments and <br />Appeals be changed to Plumbing Board. <br />City Cemetery Commission <br /> <br />Visited by Patty Sullivan and John Munoz September 28, 1988 <br />and Patty Sullivan visited November 30, 1988. <br />Problems reported by the Board: None <br />Sunset recommendation: None - This is an excellent Commission, all <br />members very interested and knowledgeable of the commission's <br />purpose. <br />Civil Service <br />Visited by John Munoz, Ruben Garcia, and Keith Ferguson August 18, <br />1988. <br />Problems reported by the Commission: The only questionnaire <br />returned was by Chair Susan Day. <br />She feels that the City Attorney's Office and the Director of <br />Personnel are both helpful, but they both need more support from <br />the City Council. <br />Observation: Group works well together. They are very <br />knowledgeable and concerned about the issues and cbmplaints <br />brought before them. <br />Sunset recommendation: None <br />
