<br />B. City Water Management Dept. staff identify reuse and <br />recycling operations on-going within the City limits to get: <br /> 1. Baseline data on current water savings froll existing <br />reuse and recycling efforts. Note: This survey could begin with <br />the largest water users such as local industry and large <br />commercial users to identify the quantities of water used in <br />their processes, cooling towers and heating systems. <br /> 2. Identification of potential candidates in the City for <br />wastewater or process water reuse and recycling. <br /> 3. Information for publicizing the benefits and cost <br />savings for reuse/recycling as an incentive for similar <br />operations in the City adopting these practices. <br />VII. Public Education <br /> A. Make water-saver kits available to every utility customer <br />(Door to door kit distribution completed by Boy Scouts, Aug. 1, <br />1989). Target apartment dwellers and multi-family units. <br /> B. Contin~e public service announcments on radio and <br />newspapers. <br /> C. Set up telephone hotline for citizen input. (Trial run of <br />this was held week of July 17-2; response was low.) <br /> D. Continue weekly reports from City Hall on aquifer levels, <br />water consumption and rainfall amounts. <br /> E. Make the Water Conservation Task Force a permanent city <br />commission for on-going conservation efforts and water-related <br />issues. <br />VII. Surface Water Alternatives <br /> A. Continue to research and negotiate reserving/purchasing <br />surface water from Canyon Lake Reservior through the <br />Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. <br /> B. Continue efforts to support the protection of the Edwards <br />Aquifer/Sãn Marcos River and San Marcos Springs, ex. support <br />GBRA lawsuit. <br />
